    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Student Awards Specialist is responsible for reviewing student files, evaluating financial aid applications, and performing verification to determine eligibility for Title IV funding. Positions assigned to this classification are a paraprofessional and will have a high technical knowledge of financial aid programs and procedures to independently assist campuses and other professionals over the phone and via electronic correspondence. The position requires analytical skills and the ability to work independently and with a sense of urgency. In addition, the position requires that all job responsibilities are completed accurately and compliantly in accordance with Title IV regulations.

    PRIMARY/ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Complies with all Federal, State, institutional policies and procedures.

    • Ability to understand and interpret Title IV regulations

    • Remains compliant as established by accrediting agencies, state entities and current established company targets.

    • Review all student financial aid files for completeness, accuracy and ensure verification requirements are met.

    • Post related award data into student operating system to ensure timely and accurate cash flow forecasts.

    • Prepare file reconciliations to ensure proper management and posting of scheduled Title IV funding.

    • Calculates award eligibility and certifies federal and private student loans.

    • Maintains knowledge of Title IV awarding and disbursing regulations.

    • Maintains and coordinates awarding and student file reports.

    • Maintain the company’s administrative requirements for student financial aid and separation of duties compliance requirements for state and federal student financial aid.

    • Maintains knowledge of the College’s awarding and refund policies.

    • Ensures ethical and accurate documentation and recordkeeping which meets all company and regulatory agency standards.

    • Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.

    • Participate as an active team member of the Corporate Student Financial Services Department and ensure active communication and cohesive working relationship with all other departments.

    • Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to drive in the United States.

    • Other duties as assigned.

     

    Qualifications

    • At least 1 year of experience in a financial aid department of an accredited college or university with direct responsibility for processing Title IV activities, programs and funding preferred.

    • Associate’s degree or comparable work experience required. Bachelor’s degree with coursework in math, business, finance, auditing or accounting preferred.

    • Excellent customer service, oral and written communication and presentation skills.

    • Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.

    • Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel

    • Ability to meet deadlines and execute multiple priorities.
