Position Summary
The Safety Manager for Intermountain Erectors Inc. (IEI) and TRC Fabrication is responsible for monitoring all phases of fabrication and field activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, client, and company safety requirements. This position supports both organizations in maintaining a safe and compliant work environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Conduct regular safety inspections of construction sites, shop areas, equipment, and field activities to ensure compliance with IEI, TRC, OSHA, and client safety standards.
Monitor welding, bolting, rigging, material handling, equipment operation, and structural steel activities to ensure safe-work practices are consistently followed.
Assist in verifying that delivered materials are handled, staged, and stored in a safe manner.
Observe daily work practices, identify hazardous conditions or unsafe behaviors, and report findings to IEI/TRC supervision.
Perform on-site safety audits and assessments to confirm compliance with applicable safety regulations and internal safety policies.
Enforce safety requirements and intervene promptly when unsafe actions or hazardous conditions are identified.
Maintain accurate safety documentation, including inspection logs, safety training records, incident/near-miss reports, and equipment/tooling calibration documentation.
Assist in training and educating IEI and TRC personnel on hazard recognition, safe work techniques, and proper use of tools, equipment, and PPE.
Participate in safety meetings, toolbox talks, job hazard analyses, and pre-task planning.
Maintain punctual attendance and willingness to work overtime as required.
Perform additional safety-related duties as requested or required by IEI or TRC leadership.
Knowledge and Skills
Strong attention to detail.
OSHA 30 certification.
Ability to read and understand safety plans, drawings, and hazard assessments.
Working knowledge of fabrication and steel erection safety practices including rigging safety, fall protection, welding safety, equipment operation safety, and structural steel safety.
Ability to work collaboratively with field crews, supervisors, and management across both companies.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to climb heights and perform inspections at elevated locations.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on hazard identification and mitigation.
Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and Word.
