    Industrial Economics, Incorporated (IEc) provides expert analysis to government decision makers and regulators, corporate strategic partners, trade associations, and other clients. IEc is particularly known for developing conceptually correct and practical approaches to analyze complex problems and issues. IEc's work emphasizes the application of rigorous analytical thinking, the exercise of well-reasoned judgment, and responsiveness to client need.

    IEc is currently seeking a full time Accountant to join our busy and friendly team located in Cambridge, MA. The Accountant provides support to the Accounting Services Manager and also works closely with members of the senior staff and Contracts personnel.

    Responsibilities may include:

    • Full-Custom Payroll/Time Accounting duties such as: collecting, reviewing, and entering timesheets into the Deltek accounting system; posting labor to the Labor Distribution Journal and payroll to the Payroll Journal in Deltek; maintaining and transmitting payroll information for approximately 170 employees through the ADP payroll system; and verifying that all ADP reports agree to reports produced by Deltek; setting up new states with the appropriate tax agencies and ADP;

    • Accounts Payable/Expense Forms duties such as: processing vendor invoices, subcontractor invoices and employee expense forms, posting invoices and expense forms in the Deltek accounting system, and preparing checks for payment.

    • Invoicing/Accounts Receivable duties such as: preparing draft trial billings and finalizing trial billings for invoicing; preparing prime as well as other invoices as directed; recording invoices in the Accounts Receivables Journal of Deltek; recording necessary revenue adjustments; and preparing cash deposits and recording cash receipts in Deltek

    • Book Closing duties such as: creating and posting end of month entries; reconciling balance sheet and income statement accounts

    • Other Support Functions such as: maintaining accounting files; running monthly accounting reports; monitoring cash balance, preparing cash flow analysis, and recommending use of line of credit when necessary; preparing schedules and analysis for outside accountants' review

    • Assist Accounting Services Manager in special projects

    • Other tasks as assigned

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Resource Economics, or other related degrees

    • 1-5 years of experience working in an accounting department, internships included

    • Prior experience in an office setting

    • Prior payroll experience preferred

    • Experience working with computerized accounting programs, spreadsheet, and word-processing software packages

    • Must be detail oriented and well organized

    • Must be self-motivated to work independently and also as part of a team
