THE ORGANIZATION

DUTIES
This position involves administering IFDC's human resources management program. Duties may involve:
- Work directly with the Global HR team to develop operational and HR strategy in alignment with global IFDC strategy
- Provide expert advice on HR policies and have the authority to negotiate solutions on sensitive or complex HR problems with managers and staff, with assistance from the Global HR Manager
- Establish a culture of proactively advising internal clients on the resolution of human resources issues, taking a balanced perspective, and ensuring equitable and transparent solutions that protect both the staff and organizations interests in accordance with best practices, organizational policies, regulations, and procedures
- Maintaining global HRIS in accordance to IFDC's policies and procedures (e.g., keeping updated on state and federal guidelines and ensuring compliance on such matters as withholdings, visas, benefits; assisting in developing and keeping personnel informed of new policies and procedures; processing and coordinating changes to employee records)
- Performing generalist activities such as employee relations, employee services and counseling; termination paperwork, exit interview process, and analysis.
- Maintaining the job classification system and performance management plan (e.g., writing position descriptions, scoring positions, performing external salary surveys, counseling staff members, maintaining database of employee performance ratings).
- Be the first point of contact advising managers and staff on all general HR enquiries in adherence to the organization’s policies and procedures, local legislations, and best practices.
- Maintain the global HRIS including accurate input of records where necessary and dealing with database queries.
- Manage payroll information and prepare payroll documents as required for compensation.
- Organize, facilitate and or deliver training as required.
- Prepare and issue documents including employee contracts and various letters.
- Implement best practice and processes to manage the talent acquisition lifecycle, selection, pre-employment background checks and references, employment offers.
- Serving as a company representative to outside organizations (e.g., community functions, professional and trade associations).
- Performing a variety of other related minor duties as required
JOB REQUIREMENTS
This position requires a general knowledge of human resources, business management, finance and a detailed understanding of IFDC global HR policies and procedures. This job may involve the following:
- Detailed knowledge of IFDC global HR policies and procedures to assist employees (e.g., responding to questions on salary and benefits, assisting them in the performance of their duties, resolving conflict or disputes)
- Broad knowledge of business management
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to handle employee issues and grievances using effective interpersonal and conflict resolution skills
- Understanding of expatriate allowances to calculate payments and interface with international expatriate employees regarding issues
- Knowledge of French is preferred but not required
- Valid Driver's License
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong leadership skills
- Experience in working with labor codes and labor laws of developing countries preferred
- Minimum of a Bachelor's degree with 6-8 years of relevant human resources generalist experience; MBA or MA/MS in human resources or related field preferred
- At least 2 years of international HR experience preferred
- Professional HR certification preferred
DIFFICULTY OF WORK
This position requires detailed knowledge of IFDC's global HR policies and procedures. Interpretation and judgment is needed to apply these guidelines to an employee's situation. As an international organization, each employee's demands and expectations are quite different. This position must ensure that all employees (both U.S. and non U.S.) feel they are treated equitably. This position develops new HR policies as needed to ensure fair and consistent treatment of all staff.
RESPONSIBILITY
This position is responsible for making daily personnel decisions (e.g., administering written policies, counseling employees). This position has a defined set of duties and primarily works on his/her own. Occasionally, special assignments are made by the supervisor. Work is reviewed by the director for completeness and soundness. Errors, if not detected, may result in incorrect employees’ payroll and allowances, or inconsistent interpretation of policies.
PERSONAL WORK RELATIONSHIPS
Most contacts are made with employees (both U.S. and non U.S.) to discuss and resolve HR matters. This position must exhibit excellent leadership abilities. The ability to manage vertical and horizontal relations in the organization.
PHYSICAL EFFORT AND WORK ENVIRONMENT
This position requires working in a normal office environment with no unusual demands or exposure to hazardous situations. International travel may be required.
