TEMPORARY - LEAD WEB DESIGNER
DESCRIPTION
The overall purpose of this position is to develop branding and design solutions for use on the Computer Society webpage and throughout all Computer Society collateral and graphical projects to ensure a positive user experience, establish a strong identity for our products and services and remain in sync with CLIENT corporate style requirements. The incumbent in this position is primarily responsible for website graphic design, branding, and user experience.
The role typically reports to the Digital Experience Manager. The incumbent establishes and follows workflows and creates efficient alternatives as needed. With minimal direct supervision, he/she uses documented specifications, procedures, tracking sheets, and schedules as primary resources, turning to other staff as needed. With the oversight of the Digital Experience Manager, he/she must be able to communicate goals and expectations to management, staff, and external vendors. This position has no authority for expenditures or document signing.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience - specialized training in graphic design and periodical production required. Specialized training in web page development and multimedia editing preferred.
Work Experience
- 2-4 years of Experience with the Web environment, including a solid knowledge of Web authoring and publishing tools required
- 4-7 years Relevant experience in graphic design and traditional and digital publishing
Skills and Requirements
- Must be able to quickly conceive and create attractive, user-centric designs, layouts, and web pages that meet high editorial and technical standards while supporting CS business goals and volunteer needs.
- Must exhibit mastery of graphic design and prepress, desktop publishing, and post-production applications, including the Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat, Bridge, Distiller), other file-format-manipulation programs (graphics, file compression, etc.), and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
- Excellent Mac and PC skills required.
- Deep knowledge and a strong command of typography, design, layout, production, and printing.
- Strong written and oral communication skills.
- Proficient at project management and problem-solving.
- Familiarity with audio and video editing tools (e.g., Adobe Premier, Audition) and social networking applications strongly desired.
