    Job Description

    Thank you for your interest in II-VI Corporation! Our summer internship program has proven to be very successful. In addition to getting hands-on experience in the field(s) of your interest, this might be your first time working for a large corporation. This opportunity gives managers insight into your true future as a potential employee after graduation. We are excited for this summer's program and can't wait for our interns to add great value to the company! Our internships do not exceed 90 days. II-VI does not provide relocation or housing assistance.

    KEY JOB DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Summer internship project to develop an automated test system to characterize and profile firmware used in optical modules. Testing could involve a combination of code instrumentation, run time analysis, and monitoring of electrical connections between the module and evaluation boards. Data to be captured may include the following.

    • Timing of module state transitions.
    • Timing of individual functions.
    • Execution and timing of individual functions or groups of functions used in module startup.

    Code may be instrumented to reconfigure interface pins for purposes of logging events from outside of the module. Logging of events may be used inside of firmware.

    Develop applications or scripts to capture data from outside of the module, as well as retrieve and analyze logs captured by module firmware.

    Intern will work with a senior engineer in developing this testing platform. Periodic updates are expected. A presentation of the project, challenges, resolution, as well as lessons learned are expected at the end of the internship.
