    New Start Supported Living Services is seeking a dependable, motivated, and patient Life Skills Coach to provide one-on-one support to a young adult with developmental disabilities in the Turlock area. This position is a great fit for a positive male role model who enjoys mentoring young adults and can provide structure, encouragement, accountability, and guidance while helping an individual build greater independence.

    Schedule:

    Part-Time, Approximately 32 hours per month.

    Typically one 8-hour shift per week scheduled on Fridays

    Schedule may occasionally vary based on the individual's needs. Morning and day availability is required for this position.

    Responsibilities:

    Teach and reinforce independent living skills

    Assist with cleaning and organizing the individual's living space

    Teach and reinforce laundry skills and routines

    Help establish consistent daily and weekly routines

    Assist with time management, planning, and organization

    Provide reminders and redirection to help the individual remain focused and on task

    Break larger responsibilities into manageable steps

    Support employment goals and development of appropriate workplace skills

    Assist with maintaining focus and completing work-related responsibilities

    Encourage healthy community involvement and age-appropriate activities

    Support development of greater independence and personal responsibility

    Provide positive mentorship while maintaining clear professional boundaries

    Complete required documentation in accordance with agency requirements

    Qualifications:

    Male applicants required for this specific client assignment at clients request

    Patient, dependable, consistent, and encouraging

    Strong communication and leadership skills

    Comfortable providing structure, reminders, and redirection

    Ability to establish and maintain clear professional boundaries

    Strong organizational and time-management skills

    Must be at least 18 year of age

    Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent GED

    Must be able to speak, read and write English

    Must have a minimum of 1 year of experience supporting individuals with disabilities. Must also have a punctual and reliable work ethic with a positive attitude, empathy and the ability to support others.

    Must be able to pass and maintain a clean DOJ Live Scan Background Check

    Driving Clients: Must provide and maintain a clean DMV driving record, Valid California driver's license, current automobile insurance, and a reliable personal vehicle.

    Have and maintain current CPR and First Aid certification from an in-person course

    Provide Negative TB clearance and clear work physical examination from within the last year

    Ability to complete all required hiring, training, and onboarding requirements

    Pay Rate: $23.00 per hour

    Who Would Be a Great Fit?

    Someone who enjoys mentoring young adults and can balance being encouraging and relatable with providing structure and accountability. The right coach will help this individual stay focused, develop stronger routines, work toward employment goals, become more involved in his community, and continue building the skills necessary for adult independence. An interest in sports, fitness, or community activities could be helpful for building rapport, although it is not required.
