SUMMARY
The Machinist I produces machined parts by operating a computer numerical control (CNC), or by setting up and operating manually controlled machine under supervision; maintaining quality and safety standards; keeping records; and maintaining equipment.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for ensuring all assigned CNC machines produce quality parts as scheduled, and has basic knowledge using precision tools and equipment such as lathes, vertical milling machines, chop saws, and band saws, among others.
You will properly and safely select, align, secure, and remove holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines, as well as read and interpret technical drawings and any additional information included with the work order.
You will utilize the proper inspection equipment to ensure quality and dimensional tolerances, as well as maintain equipment in good working condition by following established autonomous maintenance and housekeeping standards.
You will be responsible for the maintenance of continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs and follow all company safety standards, including Lock-Out-Tag-Out procedures.
QUALIFICATIONS
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School Degree or equivalent
0 to 2 years of applicable work experience contingent on formal technical training
Technical CNC training or Journeyman certification preferred
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Must have good working knowledge of basic math and be able to work from written and verbal instruction.
Must be able to use basic inspection gages to include ring and plug thread gages, GO ad NO-GO gages, Mueller gages, Dial Bore gages, both dial and digital calipers, all types of micrometers, scales, and height gages.
