We are seeking a dedicated and proactive School Safety Officer to join our security team. The School Safety Officer will play a crucial role in maintaining a safe and secure environment for students, staff, and visitors. This position requires a strong commitment to ensuring the well-being of the school community and effective collaboration with school administration, local law enforcement, and emergency response personnel.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Security monitoring, patrols and response to security problems
Patrols school buildings and grounds to protect against illegal entry, acts of violence, vandalism, illegal drug activity, arson and theft. Officer will also oversee parking violations, and overall security of the outside area including exterior lighting and emergency access routes.
Conducts regular inspections of windows, doors, and other points of entry to ensure that they are secure
Checks identification of students, staff, and visitors entering the school
Detains unauthorized persons; calls for police assistance in accordance with the school’s security plan/crisis management plan
Participates in the school’s emergency and crisis management plan as assigned
Assists in notifying police, fire department, or other appropriate authority of any situation requiring immediate attention
Patrols school hallways, stairwells, classrooms, and any other structure on school property that is accessible to students, staff or visitors
Competently uses handheld radio system including proper radio transmission etiquette
Open and close, lock and unlock, gates and restrooms
Escort students from classes to the office when summoned.
Record-keeping and customary reporting
Records all observations and conditions, and reports unusual occurrences of property damage to administrators and documents rule violations
Submits competently written reports of all incidents of vandalism, violence, illegal drug activity, and security violations
