Here at Integrity Mentoring LLC. We a provide a community-based, one-to-one therapeutic service that supports children and adolescents who are exhibiting emotional/behavioral concerns. Our Mentoring program helps empower youth within our community to make positive and healthy life choices. Mentors will facilitate open and honest discussions surrounding mental health , hurt and abandonment . The mentor will assist the mentees with developing positive relationships with family, friends and peers; Which in turn will help increase self esteem and self worth.
Role:
The mentor’s role is to support their mentees by:
Empowering them to resolve current issues and to develop coping strategies for the future.
Provide a model for a healthy, trusting relationship through clear communication and setting appropriate boundaries.
Acknowledging their strengths, talents and gifts and encouraging them to find ways to use them.
Be an active listener and offer support and encouragement when appropriate.
Engage in activities outside of the home to help expose youth to new opportunities and experiences.
Responsibilities:
Complete application process, consisting of virtual application, references, interview, background checks and volunteer training.
Maintain confidentiality of participants.
Clear communication with the Families, Supervisors, Caseworker and Volunteer Coordinator.
Contact Case Managers Once A Month .
Complete Notes Within 48 Hours Of Your Session.
Attend Thursday meetings at 12:00 pm via zoom. If unable to attend. The Supervisor must be informed 24 Hours beforehand. The following day you must schedule a follow up meeting to discuss details of the meeting
Qualifications:
Willingness to provide emotional, social, and practical support within limits.
Knowledge of one’s boundaries and ability to set limits with others.
Recognition that all people have strengths and they need to discover and use them.
Valid driver’s license , insurance and transpiration.
Completed background check and training.
Time Commitment :
Prepare for, and achieve closure at the end of 6 months or other determined time.
6-10 hours a month and at least 2 activities a month.
Phone contact within reason.
Site:
Various locations in the community as arranged between the mentor and mentee. A mentor is not to bring a mentee to his/her home.
Supervision/Training:
Monthly supervision/training groups provided by the Volunteer Coordinator.
Individual meetings with Volunteer Coordinator when necessary.
