Job Description:
We are in search of a professional and passionate Histology Supervisor who will play a critical role in ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and quality of histology procedures while adhering to regulatory standards and protocols. This position requires strong leadership abilities, technical expertise, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care.
Responsibilities:
Supervise and coordinate daily activities within the histology laboratory, including specimen processing, embedding, cutting, staining, and slide preparation.
Train, mentor, and evaluate histotechnologists and laboratory staff to ensure proficiency and compliance with established protocols and procedures.
Maintain inventory levels of supplies and equipment necessary for histology procedures, and coordinate procurement as needed.
Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and quality assurance standards, including CAP, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.
Oversee quality control and quality assurance programs to monitor and maintain the accuracy and precision of histology testing procedures.
Collaborate with pathologists, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals to address specimen-related issues and ensure timely reporting of results.
Troubleshoot technical problems and implement corrective actions to optimize laboratory workflow and efficiency.
Stay informed about new developments, techniques, and advancements in histology and molecular pathology, and integrate best practices into laboratory operations.
Participate in the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in biological sciences, medical technology, or a related field required; Master's degree preferred.
Certification as a Histotechnologist (HTL) or Histotechnician (HT) by the ASCP or equivalent certification required.
Minimum of 5 years of experience working in a histology laboratory setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
Acute Care Experience Required
In-depth knowledge of histology techniques, tissue processing, staining procedures, and laboratory instrumentation.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
Proficiency in laboratory information systems (LIS) and other relevant software applications.
Demonstrated ability to multitask, prioritize assignments, and adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Commitment to quality, accuracy, and compliance with regulatory standards and best practices in laboratory medicine.
