    Intuitive Machines is seeking to HIRE a Mid-Level Stress Analyst – xEVAS Support.

    This position will support our partner AXIOM in the development of Extra Vehicular Activity (EVA) equipment. The applicant will be located on-site at AXIOM in Houston, TX.

    The Mechanical Engineer will work in a cross-functional team on the design, development, manufacture, test, and on-orbit operation of flight and ground support hardware, such as astronaut crew aids and tools and fluid systems.

    Responsibilities

    • Under the mentorship of a senior engineer:

    Support the design and development of EVA tools;

    • Own the stress analysis for a variety of EVA tools and their applications.

    • Perform analyses and effectively present solutions.

    • Ability to rapidly prototype and evaluate hardware.

    • Assist in operations training and crew training activities as needed.

    • Assist in developing manufacturing products.

    Experience with space EVA tools desired but not required

    A candidate for this position will be encouraged to take on as much responsibility as practical and will be expected to play a role in the entire cradle-to-grave product development process, including requirements development, conceptualization, CAD design, drafting, supplier relationships, procurement and fabrication management, procedure development, contamination control, hands-on assembly and testing, and on-console mission operations support.

    Required Education/Experience/Skills

    B.S degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related discipline and minimum of 3 years of experience in mechanical engineering design or related discipline; or M.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline and a minimum of 2 years of experience

    Proficiency with component design and assembly management using 3D CAD software, preferably Solidworks.

    • Proficiency with motion simulation software and finite element analysis tools

    • Familiarity with commonly used space and commercial specifications for materials, processes, fasteners, mechanical components, connectors, wiring, etc.

    • Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

    _ Preferences_

    • Proficiency with ASME Y14.5 geometric dimensioning and tolerancing ( GD &T).

    • Experience with the generation of work orders, assembly procedures and test plans.

    • Familiarity with standard practices for assembly and environmental testing of space flight hardware's as well as the tooling and ground support equipment associated with these tests.
