    Job Description

    Verisk is seeking an Innovation Consultant/Manager to join the Verisk Innovation Accelerator Team which brings Verisk’s culture of innovation to life through internal entrepreneurship. This position focuses on driving innovation at Verisk by helping employees build ideas into revenue-generating products.  

    Multiple innovation-related projects of varying size and complexity across the Verisk enterprise will be managed by the Innovation Consultant/Manager. The team is looking for an entrepreneurially minded person who is a self-starter and can serve as a strategic and hands-on advisor for our new idea teams.  

    We are looking for a creative individual who has strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work with teams across Verisk. The ideal candidate will have a data driven, strategic mindset as well as knowledge of the insurance industry so she or he may effectively evaluate new ideas and build business cases to support them. 

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Conduct thorough analyses of new business ideas to identify revenue and market opportunities. 
    • Support each new idea team with building their business case, competitive analyses, pitch coaching, milestone creation, financial modeling, and customer development strategies. 
    • Research competitive landscape and external pressures. 
    • Revise and customize revenue and expense financial models/projections. 
    • Present research findings and recommendations to key stakeholders. 
    • Expand Verisk’s knowledge base in emerging and adjacent areas of opportunity through research and customer discovery. 
    • Build strong relationships with product, development, sales, govt relations, marketing to offer resourcing for innovation groups. 
    • Conduct ongoing market research to support innovation leads in their incubation efforts. 
    • Stay abreast of both industry and economic trends. 
    • Support discovery of market evaluation/needs.  
    • Develop presentations, communications, planning materials, and other strategy-related documents.

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred, not required 
    • 2-4 years of entrepreneurial related experience – working at a start-up or accelerator, running your own startup, or advising startups, etc. 
    • Familiarity with lean startup and customer development practices. 
    • Understanding and knowledge of the Insurance industry. 
    • Research-minded with a strong desire to keep learning about the insurance industry 
    • Strong organizational, planning and time management skills  
    • Team player with a positive “can do” attitude 
    • Analytical and perceptive, with strong attention to detail and proven ability to work creatively in a problem-solving environment. 
    • High level of emotional intelligence with the ability to work with many different types of people and working styles 
    • Comfort working in an environment that is always changing and developing. 
    • Self-motivated with the ability to think independently, make sound decisions, as well as the ability to adapt to change and flex with competing demands and shifting priorities   
    • Experience in creating/delivering presentations to internal/external stakeholders  
    • Experience with a variety of Microsoft tools including Excel
