BL Technical Services is seeking an entry-level Field Service Technician to support our small business customers. Our Field Service Technicians work at the direction of our desktop support team to carry out on-site physical tasks, mostly with instructions provided. A successful candidate will be reliable, have good interpersonal skills, be comfortable with household hand tools, and be able to understand and follow instructions well. This is an entry level position where the candidate is expected to graduate into more advanced roles, so the candidate should have a strong interest in working in the IT field.

Typical Tasks Include:

· Computer Installation

· Peripheral assembly (printers, scanners, monitors, keyboards, mice)

· Part replacement on computers and similar electronics

· On-site matters that are beyond the capabilities of the less experienced Field Service Technicians.

Desired Skills Include:

· Familiarity with computer hardware repair including desktop and laptops.

· Familiarity with desktop and peripheral installation.

· Good cable management practices.

· A working understanding of network concepts.

· Strong interpersonal skills.

· Strong problem-solving skills.

· Familiarity with wifi concepts

This position requires a driver’s license and a vehicle for customer site visits. The selected candidate will be reimbursed for the usage of their vehicle at the rate published by the IRS, which is currently $0.70 per mile. Candidate will be based out of our Glen Burnie office, but will frequently visit customer sites throughout central Maryland, DC, and Northern Virginia.
