IT Infrastructure & Security Specialist

Location: Tampa, FL (Hybrid – Onsite & Remote Support)

About the Role

We are seeking a skilled IT Infrastructure & Security Project Specialist based in Tampa, FL, who thrives on managing and executing technical projects across diverse customer environments. This role is heavily focused on supporting the design, implementation, and troubleshooting of IT infrastructure and security solutions, both onsite and remotely. The specialist will provide direct onsite support to clients in the Tampa area and must reside locally. The ideal candidate brings strong project coordination skills, technical depth, and a passion for improving customer systems and security postures through strategic initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

· Lead and assist in IT infrastructure and cybersecurity projects from planning to execution and handoff

· Deploy and configure Microsoft Active Directory, firewalls, endpoint security tools, and network appliances

· Collaborate with project managers and engineering teams to ensure successful and timely project delivery

· Serve as an onsite technical resource for installations, migrations, upgrades, and troubleshooting

· Coordinate security assessments, infrastructure health checks, and environment optimization efforts

· Utilize tools such as Microsoft Sentinel for project-related and managed services monitoring, alert response, validation, and triage

· Document project plans, technical steps, customer communications, and post-project summaries

Tools & Platforms

· Microsoft Active Directory, Online Exchange, Group Policy, and Azure AD

· Firewall configuration (e.g., Fortinet, Meraki, Palo Alto)

· SIEM Tools: Microsoft Sentinel

· MDR/EDR and endpoint management solutions

· Network hardware: routers, switches, VPNs

· Project documentation and ticketing platforms

Skills & Qualifications

· 3+ years of experience delivering IT infrastructure or cybersecurity projects

· Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft technologies and network infrastructure

· Ability to work independently on customer sites and communicate effectively with stakeholders

· Familiarity with modern SIEM and EDR platforms (Sentinel)

· Project coordination or team lead experience is a plus

· Certifications such as Security+, Network+, or PMP are a plus

· Must reside in the Tampa, FL area to provide direct onsite client support and be available for both local and some US based travel to customer sites
