    Position Summary:

    As an Intern supporting IT Security, Data Governance, and Technology Support at GPFS, you will gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, data protection, compliance, and basic IT operations. This role offers a unique opportunity to support both strategic and day-to-day technology initiatives, helping to enhance security practices while contributing to end-user support activities.

    • This is a paid internship opportunity.
    • Work hours are dependent on the student's schedule.
    • GPFS requires part-time availability (16-20 hours per week).
    • This internships runs for 12 - 14 weeks. Exact dates discussed at offer.

    IT Security & Data Governance Support

    • Assist in data classification projects, helping to categorize and tag sensitive data.
    • Support efforts to define and implement role-based access controls (RBAC).
    • Contribute to drafting and organizing data protection policies and standards.
    • Assist in the preparation of documentation for security audits and compliance assessments.
    • Support vendor evaluation documentation related to cybersecurity compliance.
    • Research and summarize emerging tools and technologies that support data security.
    • Participate in internal meetings focused on security and governance strategy.

    Basic Technology Support

    • Provide first-level assistance for common hardware/software issues.
    • Help maintain an updated inventory of IT equipment and user access records.
    • Assist with onboarding activities, including new user setup (account creation, system access, etc.).
    • Support documentation and ticket tracking for IT support requests using tools like FreshService.
    • Offer general assistance to end users and escalate issues to the appropriate team members when needed.
    • Evaluate new tools and technologies to support the company's strategy and growth.

    As part of this role, you will be included in meetings that are specifically related to your responsibilities and the projects you are actively working on. This will ensure that your involvement is focused on the areas where your expertise and contributions are most relevant.

    Required Education and Experience:

    • Must be a full-time matriculating student in an Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Data Science, Computer Science, or related program.
      • GPFS requires that applicants have taken at least the first two courses in their degree program to be considered for the internship.
      • GPA requirements apply.
    • Proficiency with software related products such as Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams and OneNote).
    • Interest in both strategic security practices and operational IT support.
    • Experience with documentation platforms and/or helpdesk systems.
