Job Summary:
Wright Technical Services is proud to partner with a highly respected Food & Beverage manufacturer in the search for a Corporate Controls Infrastructure Engineer. This role sits within the Corporate Controls Engineering organization and is best described as an IT Infrastructure Engineer focused on the Controls/OT environment.
The Corporate Controls Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for building, supporting, maintaining, and evolving control system infrastructure across multiple manufacturing facilities. This position is hands-on and execution-focused, supporting servers, virtual environments, networking, and system patching on the OT side. While the role supports SCADA systems, it is not a PLC or SCADA development position.
The Corporate Controls Infrastructure Engineer will work closely with the Corporate Controls Engineering Manager, Team Leaders, and Senior Engineers to align on standards and processes for managing control system infrastructure. Mentoring will be provided to support understanding of control system design principles and established standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science degree in an Engineering discipline or a closely related technical field.
- 7+ years of experience in controls, OT, or industrial infrastructure engineering within manufacturing environments.
- Strong experience supporting industrial control system infrastructure rather than pure PLC or SCADA development.
- Working knowledge of Rockwell Automation environments (ControlLogix, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk).
- Experience supporting AVEVA System Platform (Wonderware) environments.
- Experience with industrial networking, including Ethernet/IP and managed industrial switches.
- Strong understanding of server environments, including patching, backups, and system lifecycle management.
- Understanding of cybersecurity considerations within industrial/OT environments.
- Willingness to travel up to 25%.
- Ability to work in a tobacco- and drug-free workplace.
Preferred Qualifications
- Food & Beverage or Consumer Goods manufacturing experience.
- Exposure to automotive, oil & gas, or other regulated industrial environments.
- Experience with virtualized server environments in OT settings.
- Experience with AVEVA MES or similar manufacturing execution systems.
- Experience with SQL databases.
- Familiarity with control panel design and industrial hardware standards.
Description and Responsibilities
- Design, build, and support OT control system infrastructure across multiple manufacturing sites.
- Support and patch OT servers, including physical and virtual environments.
- Provide technical support for SCADA systems (support and maintenance only; no primary development responsibility).
- Implement, support, and troubleshoot industrial networking solutions within the OT environment.
- Manage infrastructure migrations, upgrades, and lifecycle initiatives.
- Support the separation of IT and OT infrastructure, including collaboration with IT teams to define boundaries, traffic requirements, and standards.
- Maintain Rockwell Automation infrastructure, including AssetCentre, Studio 5000, FactoryTalk View SE, licensing, backups, and patch management.
- Maintain AVEVA System Platform and related infrastructure, including patching, licensing, backups, and technical system support.
- Specify and maintain operating systems, hardware, software, and network configurations for engineering and OT servers.
- Approve and coordinate Microsoft patching for OT servers based on Rockwell and AVEVA compatibility guidance, working with IT and plant teams to minimize production impact.
- Develop and maintain monitoring tools that report abnormal conditions within control systems.
- Maintain and document control system infrastructure standards, including backup and recovery procedures.
- Support and maintain control system networks, including industrial Ethernet/IP, Device Level Ring (DLR), and legacy control networks (e.g., ControlNet).
- Manage user access within control system environments, including quarterly access audits.
- Provide Controls & Automation technical support through the Help Desk system.
- Support control system obsolescence initiatives and infrastructure modernization efforts.
- Partner with third-party controls and automation vendors as needed.
