Job Description
IT Operations Specialist
Location: Washington, DC (Onsite)
Type: Full-Time
Salary: $75,000–$90,000 DOE
About Us
The Midtown Group is a multi-award-winning staffing and recruitment firm headquartered in Washington, DC. We believe in smart, sustainable growth—powered by exceptional people and efficient systems.
We’re seeking a hands-on IT Operations Specialist who thrives in a fast-paced, service-oriented environment. This role blends internal support with external helpdesk responsibilities for our consultants deployed across the country. You’ll manage hardware and licenses, respond to support tickets, and ensure our internal tech operations run smoothly. This is an onsite role based in our DC office, where all equipment is housed and maintained.
We’re looking for a proactive problem-solver who’s not only technically strong but also committed to continual improvement and delivering excellent customer service—with the bedside manner to match. You’ll work closely with our leadership team and managed service provider (MSP) and will have real opportunities to grow.
What You’ll Do
Technical Support & Equipment Management
Provide timely Tier 1 IT support to external consultants working on client projects, primarily via ZenDesk and email.
Prepare, configure, ship, track, and recover laptops using Snipe-IT.
Maintain a ready stock of clean, configured laptops to ensure rapid deployment.
Coordinate returns and recoveries with payroll and ensure accurate tracking of all equipment and software licenses.
Systems Administration & Compliance
Collaborate with our MSP to support internal users when onsite needs arise (hardware swaps, access issues, office moves, etc.).
Maintain and audit license usage across platforms including Microsoft 365, Bullhorn, ThreatLocker, Action1, JumpCloud, and Cyphercor.
Support internal transitions by adjusting or reassigning access (e.g., ActivTrak, Prodoscore).
Monitor cybersecurity posture and contribute to improving best practices.
Project Support & Infrastructure
Lead a daily IT support bridge from 8:30–10:30 AM to ensure field consultants’ needs are addressed and resolved or escalated appropriately.
Train and delegate recurring support tasks to administrative team members as needed.
Provide hands-on support for hardware rollouts, new office setup, and other in-person projects.
Assist leadership with procurement tracking, vendor coordination, and operational reporting.
What We’re Looking For
3–5+ years in IT support, helpdesk, or operations roles.
Strong foundation in:
Windows OS and Microsoft 365 administration
Ticketing systems (ZenDesk preferred)
Asset management tools (Snipe-IT or similar)
Strong organizational skills and a follow-through mindset.
Calm, clear communicator who can translate technical issues for non-technical users.
Customer service orientation with strong interpersonal skills.
Comfortable working independently in a highly accountable, fast-moving environment.
Bonus: Experience supporting remote teams or working within staffing/professional services.
Bonus: Basic scripting or automation experience.
Growth Opportunity
For the right candidate, this role offers the chance to take on ownership of select systems—such as Bullhorn, license management, or internal reporting dashboards. Over time, you’ll have the opportunity to grow into an IT Manager or Technical Operations Lead role, with increased responsibility for system strategy, vendor oversight, and internal IT improvements.
