    THE TEAM

    Make-A-Wish America is the national headquarters for our organization, providing resources and support for our 58 Chapters around the country. The Information Technology team is comprised of a diverse team of technologists responsible for building and operating the technologies that enable Make-A-Wish to grant the wish of every eligible child. The Information Technology team is focused on providing innovative solutions across these key areas: Operations, Security, Applications, Infrastructure, Governance, and Analytics.

    THE ROLE

    The IT Project Manager is responsible for planning, initiating, and leading information technology projects at Make-A-Wish® America. This project manager will work closely with IT and cross-functional business teams to develop and execute project plans for technical efforts across a variety of software, infrastructure, and/or data related initiatives that support the organization’s strategic plan.


    WHERE YOU COME IN

    As the IT Project Manager you will:

    • Demonstrate experience in leading a portfolio of technology projects across various IT departments and disciplines. Heavy focus on infrastructure projects is a strong plus.
    • Manage multiple projects at once, keeping all responsible parties on task, on schedule, and on budget.
    • Experience in driving software development initiatives, including detailed knowledge of the software development lifecycle and various development methodologies, including waterfall and agile.
    • Ability to recognize opportunities to increase efficiency and effectiveness of IT processes to ensure that the organization gets the most value out of IT initiatives.
    • Experience in framing key business requirements questions to answer, managing complex scheduling, and resolving scope challenges with project stakeholders.
    • Facilitate engagements that encourage collaboration and transparent, consistent communication between the IT team and its many constituents.
    • Have a big picture view of opportunities, with the ability to define tactical implementation plans.
    • Track cost, manage budgets, and identify cost savings opportunities to maximize ROI.
    • Understand organizational dynamics, navigates expertly and can achieve success in a consensus driven, team-oriented environment.
    • Oversees a portfolio of initiatives for one or more applications and/or technical infrastructure initiatives and reports regularly on program/portfolio health, resourcing, cost, and risk.
    • Identify opportunities to optimize IT project processes and engages with stakeholders to assess gaps and identify solutions.
    • Use critical thinking to evaluate business requirements, formulate strategies for schedule management/risk mitigation, and make recommendations on project phasing/structure.
    • Take a position of leadership on projects where IT resources are required and removes obstacles, surfaces challenges or risks, and seeks out solutions proactively, working with subject matter experts in IT and cross functional teams to assess impact to the broader IT ecosystem. ****

    WHAT YOU’LL NEED

    • 5+ years professional experience in demonstrated project management skills including project planning and control, and risk management, strategy and/or consulting required.
    • PMI Certification is preferred.
    • Strong computer skills required, specifically in Microsoft Office applications, including Visio.
    • Experience with project management technologies. Smartsheet experience is preferred.
    • Experience with Agile methodologies.
    • Prior experience working in a non-profit organization a plus.
    • Position may require travel to organizational conferences and events.
