Position Overview
The IT Project Manager reports to the IT Assistant Deputy Commissioner and Department CIO and works closely with business stakeholders, vendors, and internal IT teams to manage technology projects and system changes across the organization.
This role is responsible for managing small to large IT projects of moderate to high complexity, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget.
Responsibilities
Manage and coordinate IT projects throughout the project management and software development life cycle (SDLC).
Collaborate with business leads, vendor project managers, analysts, and technical teams to support project execution.
Manage projects in accordance with Statements of Work (SOW), vendor contracts, and project governance requirements.
Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, risk logs, and communication plans.
Monitor project progress and provide status reports to leadership and stakeholders.
Lead project kickoff meetings, status meetings, and project reviews.
Manage scope, schedule, resources, risks, and issues throughout the project lifecycle.
Coordinate with vendors and internal teams to ensure deliverables meet business requirements.
Track project milestones and address potential schedule risks.
Conduct project closeout activities including lessons learned and stakeholder acceptance reviews.
Maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders, vendors, and project teams.
Required Skills & Experience
PMP Certification from PMI or equivalent (required — certification must be uploaded).
Bachelor’s degree in a related field or specialized training with IT project management experience (5+ years).
7+ years of experience leading projects of moderate to high complexity within the last 10 years.
7+ years of experience leading or coordinating vendor-managed projects within the last 5 years (highly desired).
5+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Project, Microsoft Visio, SharePoint 2013, and Microsoft Office 365.
Experience working in public sector IT environments (highly desired).
Experience working in an outsourced or vendor-supported IT environment (highly desired).
