This position reports to the Night Shift Supervisor and is responsible for monitoring scheduled job flows running on z/OS mainframe, UNIX, and/or PeopleSoft environments. The specialist will investigate job failures, perform initial troubleshooting, escalate issues to the appropriate support teams, maintain scheduling dependencies, and help ensure timely completion of production batch cycles.

Candidates with general mainframe development or support experience but limited hands-on job scheduling and production control experience may not be a suitable match.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Execute, monitor, and troubleshoot mainframe batch jobs, scheduled workloads, and production cycle flows.

    • Operate and maintain job schedules using CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries) or a comparable enterprise scheduling platform.

    • Establish, update, and validate job dependencies, scheduling sequences, and batch processing workflows.

    • Investigate failed, delayed, or abnormally terminated jobs; perform initial troubleshooting and escalate critical issues to the appropriate on-call teams.

    • Troubleshoot JCL errors, batch-processing issues, and scheduling failures.

    • Monitor production processing across z/OS mainframe, UNIX, and/or PeopleSoft environments.

    • Document job failures, incidents, corrective actions, and scheduling issues accurately.

    • Execute test job flows and troubleshoot scheduling or processing issues before production implementation.

    • Assist with occasional migrations of software and job components to test and production environments.

    • Coordinate with application, operations, and infrastructure teams to support production schedules and resolve operational issues.

    • Follow established change-management, incident-management, and SDLC procedures.

    Required Qualifications

    • 3–5 years of hands-on experience in mainframe job scheduling, production control, or enterprise batch scheduling.

    • Practical experience executing, monitoring, and troubleshooting batch jobs and production cycle flows.

    • Experience working with CA Workload Automation DE (dSeries) or a similar enterprise scheduling tool.

    • Experience setting up and managing job dependencies, scheduling sequences, and batch workflows.

    • Strong experience investigating, escalating, and documenting critical job failures and scheduling problems.

    • Working knowledge of z/OS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, GDGs, File-AID, and IDCAMS.

    • Ability to perform initial troubleshooting of failed jobs and coordinate resolution with application or technical support teams.

    • Strong analytical, organizational, communication, and documentation skills.

    • Willingness to work 100% onsite in New York City on the specified rotating shift schedule, including weekends and holidays.

    Preferred Technical Skills
