We are seeking an experienced and dependable IT Specialist to support a multi-office law firm operating in Marietta, GA and Douglasville, GA. This role is structured as a hybrid engagement, for system maintenance and additional on-site support with hourly billing by invoice. The IT Specialist will ensure reliable technology operations while maintaining the confidentiality and security required in a legal environment.
Key Responsibilities
Provide ongoing IT support, including system monitoring and maintenance
Deliver on-site and remote technical support for attorneys and staff at both office locations
Travel between the Marietta and Douglasville offices as needed
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, network, and connectivity issues
Install, configure, and maintain desktops, laptops, printers, scanners, and mobile devices
Support legal and office software, including document management, billing, and timekeeping systems
Manage user accounts, permissions, passwords, and access controls
Perform routine updates, backups, and security patches
Ensure data security, confidentiality, and compliance with legal industry best practices
Coordinate with third-party IT vendors and service providers
Document technical issues, resolutions, and system configurations
Provide basic user training and technical guidance
Respond promptly to urgent or time-sensitive IT matters
Qualifications
Proven experience as an IT Specialist, IT Support Technician, or similar role
Experience supporting a law firm or professional services environment strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of Windows and/or macOS systems
Experience with Microsoft 365, cloud-based platforms, and email systems
Working knowledge of networking, VPNs, firewalls, and cybersecurity best practices
Strong troubleshooting, organizational, and time-management skills
Excellent communication and customer service abilities
High level of discretion when handling confidential and sensitive information
Requirements
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Ability and willingness to travel between Marietta, GA and Douglasville, GA
Availability to provide services under a standard hourly rate as needed
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
Ability to lift and transport standard IT equipment
Willingness to sign confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements
Must comply with all applicable Georgia and federal laws governing independent contractors
Compensation Structure
Hourly billing by invoice for work performed for baseline IT maintenance, and support.
Mileage reimbursement for travel between office locations at the applicable IRS standard rate
Contractor is responsible for all applicable taxes, insurance, and expenses consistent with 1099 status
Preferred
Experience with legal case management or billing platforms
Familiarity with data privacy, cybersecurity, or compliance standards
IT certifications (CompTIA, Microsoft, or similar)
Experience supporting small to mid-sized law firms
