    Location/Schedule: This hybrid role (3 days at the office/2 remote days) is based out of the Ann Arbor, Michigan headquarters office.

    Job Purpose:

    The IT Support Specialist responds to support requests from NCMS staff. Support activities include IT hardware, software, and end-user training. Excellent communication and the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks are essential skills.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Respond to e-mail and telephone requests for computer hardware and software support.
    • Perform preventive maintenance on laptops, desktops, servers, printers, mobile devices, and miscellaneous peripheral devices.
    • Maintain wired and wireless network devices, including routers, firewalls and switches.
    • Receive, store, log, and track hardware and software inventory.
    • Install and configure Windows operating systems and applications. Troubleshoot configuration problems.
    • Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, and peripherals. The Support Technician will ensure compliance with all software license agreements made between NCMS and other vendors for infrastructure use.

    Requirements:

    • Must be a citizen of the United States.
    • Must have or be eligible to obtain a government security clearance.
    • Must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 unless legally exempt.
    • Experience with Windows 10/11 and Microsoft 365 (formerly Office 365) suite applications.
    • Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
    • Thorough knowledge of PC and server hardware.
    • Thorough knowledge of network fundamentals & components (LAN/WAN, routers, hubs, etc.)
    • Basic understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, 802.11, HTTP, FTP, etc.)
    • Minimum of 1 year of hardware and software diagnostic experience, configuring TCP/IP and using Internet protocols.
    • Ability to transport heavy boxes (up to 80 lbs.) of equipment and software.
    • Proactive, self-driven, and able to resolve problems with minimal direction and oversight.
    • Strong ability to multi-task, organize and prioritize workload in a fast-paced environment.
    • Convey a positive and professional image that will reflect favorably on both the company and the Management Information Systems Department.
    • Excellent communication skills are essential.
    • Prior help desk experience is highly desired.
    • Experience with NIST 800-171 compliance desired.
    • A+, Cisco or Microsoft certification strongly desired.
    • Active Directory and Group Policy administrative experience desired.

    Position reports to the VP, IT and Data Security.
