IT Support Specialist - Temporary to Permanent
Location: Columbia, SC
Employment Type: Temporary to Permanent Full-Time
Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled IT Support Specialist to join our law firm. This temporary-to-permanent position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive technical support in a professional legal environment. The ideal candidate will ensure smooth daily operations of our technology infrastructure while delivering exceptional customer service to attorneys and staff.
Key Responsibilities:
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Provide desktop and laptop support for Windows-based systems, including hardware and software troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve network connectivity issues, printer problems, and peripheral device malfunctions
- Perform system maintenance, updates, and security patches
- Set up and configure new workstations and mobile devices
Copier & Print Management
- Maintain and troubleshoot multifunction copiers and printers throughout the office
- Coordinate with vendor support for equipment repairs and maintenance
- Manage print queues, toner replacement, and equipment supplies
- Train staff on proper equipment usage and features
Case Management Software Support
- Provide technical support for legal case management applications
- Assist users with software navigation, data entry, and report generation
- Coordinate software updates and user access management
- Document and escalate software issues to vendors when necessary
Training & Documentation
- Conduct one-on-one and group training sessions for new software and systems
- Create and maintain user guides and IT documentation
- Provide ongoing support during technology transitions and upgrades
General IT Support
- Respond to help desk tickets and prioritize requests based on business needs
- Assist with backup and data recovery procedures
- Support video conferencing and presentation technology for meetings and depositions
- Maintain inventory of IT equipment and supplies
Required Qualifications:
- Associate's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of experience in desktop support or IT help desk environment
- Strong knowledge of Windows operating systems and Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience with network troubleshooting and basic system administration
- Excellent communication skills and customer service orientation
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
- Professional demeanor suitable for a legal office environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience supporting legal case management software (Filevine, Clio, or similar)
- Familiarity with legal industry technology requirements and compliance standards
- Basic knowledge of server administration and backup systems
- Relevant IT certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, or equivalent)
