IT Systems and Support Administrator (on-site)
Job Description
The opportunity at Lake Region Electric Cooperative for an IT Systems & Support Administrator is a great fit for a process driven, people person, who is excited to own our end-users’ IT experience and drive efficiency improvements throughout the cooperative by using automation and scripting.
Lake Region Electric Cooperative is a member-owned electric utility serving more than 30,000 member-consumers in the counties of Otter Tail, Wilkin, Grant, Douglas, Clay and Becker (service territory). On-site in our Pelican Rapids, MN office, this individual contributor role applies their ‘jack of all trades’ broad IT knowledgebase, ensuring the smooth operation and technical support of systems and solutions via integration of hardware and software technologies. Provide support to end users by identifying problems, researching answers, and guiding through corrective steps. Assist end-users in creating efficiencies by eliminating repetitive tasks using automation and scripting. Maintain secure network and server operations, including recommending and executing system automation efficiencies. Employ scripting and automation tools for IT efficient systems management. Administer and engage in cybersecurity policies, procedures, end user training and best practices.
Ensure effective and efficient problem solving or escalation of IT support issues, engaging with external IT contractors as appropriate – 25%
o Manage a wide range of administrative and support tasks, ensuring the operational efficiency and effectiveness of the department.
o Participate in the analysis, planning and coordinating of technology related projects.
o Maintain adequate licensing for all IT systems including, but not limited to network & server infrastructure, workstations, software applications, and phone systems.
o Perform compliance testing, hardware & software lifecycle management, and cyber security processes and procedures.
o Design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve the end-user experience.
Maintain secure and efficient enterprise network operations and server infrastructure, including recommending and executing system automation programming efficiencies – 25%
o Evaluate and provide recommendations for wired and wireless networks
o Ensure backups are functioning to eliminate downtime in the event of hardware failures and internet outages.
o Monitor, troubleshoot and diagnose network stability, available bandwidth, and server performance.
o Collaborate with the department manager and other departments to determine and address technology requirements across the cooperative.
Ensure efficient operation, integrations, and support of utility software applications including design and customize technological systems and platforms to improve the end-user experience – 15%
o Develop and maintain relationships with software vendors to ensure LREC is utilizing the most effective technologies.
o Design and maintain task automations using tools like Zapier and Power Automate, and scripting languages including but not limited to PowerShell, Python, and JavaScript.
