ITAD OPERATOR – PLANO, TX

About the Role

Abacus Staffing is hiring ITAD Operators for our customer in Plano, TX. This position is detail-driven and security-focused. You’ll work directly with data-bearing devices—HDDs, SSDs, and related media—ensuring they are properly erased, dismantled, and prepared for resale, recycling, or destruction. Every process is performed under R2v3 certification and NIST 800-88 standards, so accuracy and compliance are critical.

What You’ll Do

• Receive, inspect, and log incoming storage media devices

• Perform data erasure using Blancco software on Illumynt-certified platforms

• Verify all sanitization meets compliance standards

• Disassemble, recycle, or prep devices for resale/reuse

• Package and palletize processed media for storage or shipment

• Maintain precise, audit-ready device and erasure records

• Follow strict chain-of-custody and security protocols

• Operate pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified)

• Support a clean, safe, and organized work environment

What We’re Looking For

• High school diploma or equivalent

• Experience in IT asset handling or warehouse operations preferred

• Familiarity with HDDs, SSDs, and related hardware

• Knowledge of software/hardware data destruction methods is a plus

• Attention to detail and ability to follow SOPs

• Comfortable with computers, scanners, and inventory systems

• Physically able to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for long periods

• Dependable, punctual, and a strong team player

Extra Requirements

• Must pass background check and drug screening

• Must follow all safety, security, and data-handling protocols

• Forklift certification preferred but not required
