    The SURVEYOR position, reporting to the QA Supervisor, is based out of Conda Phosphate Operations and will be responsible to perform a wide variety surveying functions to support our mine site(s).  

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

    • Perform daily pit, dump and stockpile grade control, monthly pit and stockpile re-measures.
    • Ensure pit wall slopes are within tolerances and inspect for any potential instability.
    • Set up and maintain equipment used to monitor slope stability.
    • Ensure that any disturbance on the mine site is identified and surveyed.
    • Create and plot weekly pit maps along with monthly pit cross-sections.
    • Assist with engineering projects, including annual operations reports, digitizing maps and cross-sections, data entry into Surpac files, creating AutoCAD drawings.
    • Work with Quality Control department, assisting with surveying of trenches, trench sampling and sample preparation.
    • Work with Environmental Department, assisting with surveying, water and soil sampling, reclamation enhancement, placing and repairing straw & silt fence for water management.
    • Assist with special projects including aerial flight control and surveys, exploratory drilling control and sampler relief, equipment studies.
    • Maintain GPS systems on mining equipment and train operators to use it efficiently.

    QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE POSITION INCLUDE:

    • Possess a 2 year degree in Civil Engineering or Surveying, or have a minimum of 5 years applicable experience.
    • Proficient with Trimble GPS surveying equipment along with associated software.
    • Have an overall knowledge of surveying principles and practices.
    • Proficiency with computers and associated programs including Microsoft software and AutoCAD, Surpac mining software a plus.
    • General mining experience required, knowledge of phosphate geology, mining practices and equipment desirable.
    • Possess an excellent work ethic and be a a self-starter with the ability to perform various jobs, at various skill levels, with limited supervision.
    • Ability to walk long distances over uneven ground.
    • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate well.
    • Ability to work well in a fast paced “Team” environment.
