    Job Description

     

    ITS ConGlobal is the industry-leading provider of intermodal rail terminal services, auto loading and unloading and container depot services. We take pride in consistently delivering superior and reliable service, a broad scope of services and an exemplary safety record.  We’re currently seeking a SAFETY & COMPLIANCE MANAGER to join our team.

     

    The heart of this position is to identify and integrate proper, safe work procedures, cultivate proper attitudes in a production rich atmosphere without jeopardizing team members or minimizing health and safety at the various job sites. The Safety & Compliance Manage will assure all required health and safety activities for sites are accomplished as required by regulatory and/or ITS ConGlobal policy requirements. Review, evaluate, audit, and provide all required health and safety training. Will assist in safety talks with supervisors and team members, as required. The Safety & Compliance Manage will conduct equipment inspections, safety system audits, risk-based evaluations, testing, training and reporting of performance measurements.

     

    This position plans and implements safety policies and procedures in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), Federal Railroad Administration (FRA), and Department of Transportation / Federal Motor Carrier Administration (DOT/FMCSA). This position will assure that site operations follow and adhere to standardized health and safety procedures, policies and rules by all assigned team members, visitors, customers and contractors entering ITS ConGlobal properties.

     

    This position will perform regular audits to identifying under-developed work procedures, unsafe work behavior and develop remedial actions in coordination with the Terminal Manager and ITS ConGlobal Director of Safety. This position must not only identify problems in safety compliance, but be able to accurately report the same and be an integral part of the solution.

    SAFETY & COMPLIANCE MANAGER

    • Help create a culture of injury-free attitudes within the organization by demonstrating honest, genuine care and passion for safety that is demonstrated through leadership by example
    • Coaches and works closely with Site Leadership Teams to ensure a continual improvement and compliance with safety activities 
    • Assure that the processes are in place to evaluate and conduct near miss, incident, injury, or illness investigations to discover root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent re-occurrences
    • Lead, design, develop and implement initial and recurrent safety training programs 
    • Partners with business unit to provide on-going training on safety and risk mitigation related topics
    • Provide hands-on remedial instruction and training to local teams to assure understanding, knowledge and standardization for meeting or exceeding safety expectations and goals
    • Inspects and reviews operational procedures to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations
    • Analyzes safety statistics to establish necessary precautions and recommended changes needed to maintain a safe working environment
    • Audit safety system through observation, inquiry and documented process to identify improvement opportunities 
    • Develop and conduct regularly scheduled Safety Meetings
    • Communicates safety policy and procedural changes
    • Conducts safety orientations as needed
    • Report incident statistics as directed by Company policy
    • Develop and generate reports for use by management regarding Safety, Security, Health and Environmental issues
    • Assists in the investigation of all safety related incidents, reviews incident reports and completes required reports for insurance carrier, corporate safety and risk management
    • Participate in Accident Review Boards for all reportable injuries in accordance with company policy
    • Assists in the performance of site-specific Job Hazard Analysis (JHA)

    REQUIREMENTS:

    • Bachelors Degree in Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Occupational Health & Safety or other applicable disciplines
    • 3-5 years progressive experience in Health & Safety or Environmental fields, preferably within management structure
    • Experience leading training efforts, ability to develop training materials
    • Strong project management skills, detail orientation, flexibility, ability to prioritize multiple projects, with strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documents
    • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and general public
    • Excellent computer skills and MS Office experience
    • Position to be seated in San Bernardino, CA
