    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    Perform a variety of film embossing (design imprinting) machine setups and operations to imprint a design(s) onto various films; some material slitting and rewinding, material handling and finished product.

     

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Ø  Work from specifications, product and application standards, samples, production schedules, priorities and other information to setup and operate embossing machines to imprint designs through heat/pressure onto various films. 

     

    Ø  Make required machine changeovers.  (Un)load materials, completed work; making machine adjustments to material feeds, imprint shims, rollers or cylinders, take-up/idler rolls, tension rollers, heating/cooling or curing sources according to material type. Design being imprinted and other criteria.

     

    Ø  Ensure adjustments are made to machine’s computerized control panel; that continuous observations and necessary adjustments are made.  Make required inspections and checks for rainbow effect, design application, run out and adherence to specifications.

     

    Ø  Place, align, bolt, clamp and secure fixtures, guides, sensors, slitters, switches, rollers, tension bars, material and take-up reels, feed and other mechanisms.  Dial in job specifications into controller and set speeds, feed, pressures, tensions, stops according to material type.  Adjust and install any safety devices.

     

    Ø  Cross training in other departments and manufacturing processes will be required to provide secondary coverage where and when necessary.

     

    Ø  Care required in cylinder cleaning assures imprint design is free from distortion, marking, streaking and other defects.  Salvage or strip damaged or used imprint cylinders.

     

    Ø  Ensure machines are routinely maintained; that specific products material stocks are available and ready for production runs.  Ensure items in low supply are replaced.

     

    Ø  Clear machinery jams and malfunctions.  Make required film splices and rethreads of broken films.

     

    Ø  Record production run quantities, job orders, product and materials used, machinery down times.  Mark completed rolls.  Participate in inventory control, data entry and other operations.

     

    Ø  Transport processed materials to storage or holding areas.

     

    Ø  Maintain established quality and quaintly standards, records or work performed.  Follow prescribed safety precautions, department and company policies, procedures, rules and regulations.  Detect and report improper operations, faulty equipment, detective materials and unusual conditions.  Maintain work area and equipment in a clean, orderly, operational and safe condition by confirming area to 5S standards

     

    Ø  Perform similar or other duties as required.

     

     

     

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    KNOWLEDGE/EXPERIENCE: 

    Ø  Use of shop arithmetic, including decimals and fractions; simple use of charts, tables, specifications, schedules, computer-programmed controllers, use of adjustable measuring instruments requiring knowledge in machine and equipment operations.  Over 2 years of machine operator experience.

     

    Ø  Use of judgment to plan, perform and make decisions as to the sequence of embossing machines(s) set-ups and adjustments, operations, processes, including minor modifications or adjustments to works routines, computerized controllers within the limits of reorganized or standard methods or procedures.

     

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

    Ø  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

    Ø  Be respirator approved

    Ø  While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger dexterity, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.  The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and color vision.

    • Ability to frequently lift 25lb and occasionally up to 65lb.
    • Ability to operate high speed machinery with exposed rotating parts.
    • Ability to handle sharp objects such as razor blades, safety knives and circular blades.
    • Continuous standing and walking and occasional bending, kneeling, carrying, twisting, climbing, forward reaching and reaching above shoulder level is required.
