    POSITION SUMMARY

    The Trade Compliance internship role provides students with the opportunity to apply academic knowledge and skills in a professional environment, and to promote the student’s career goals through contact with professionals in their field of study, enhancement of his/her trade knowledge and development of his/her professional skillset. The internship experience enables students to participate in professional activities for Illinois Tool Works, Inc. by working on projects for the Corporate Trade Compliance team hand-in-hand with our full-time trade professionals. The internship allows students to integrate knowledge and skills in a manner that is mutually beneficial to the student and Illinois Tool Works, Inc.

    The internship position is for the Summer of 2022 and will require 40 hours per week with flexibility of start and end dates in Summer 2022.The internship position is for our Corporate Headquarters in Glenview, IL; however, due to COVID-19 work safety guidelines, this internship may be remote for a portion of the internship term.

    As a Trade Compliance Intern, you will contribute to our mission by helping your department complete key projects. Some potential projects for our summer intern include:

    • Supporting the company’s Global Trade Compliance Program
    • Assisting with development, presentation and publication of training materials
    • Creating and editing content for the department website and department news site with focus on import / export activities and trade regulations
    • Assisting with programs for free trade agreements and other import / export government agency programs
    • Completion and filing of trade compliance-related forms and documents
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Must be enrolled in a full time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited 4-year institution. Preferred fields of study include International Trade, International Business, Supply Chain Management or related degree.
    • Applicants should be interested in pursuing a professional career in International Trade with a specific interest in Importing, Exporting, or Trade Compliance.
    •  Applicants must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.0.
    •  Applicants should be proficient in Microsoft Office Applications (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
    • Legal Authorization to work in the U.S.
