    Job Description

    Responsible for setup and operation of equipment to mix and grind materials to produce dispersions and intermediates for the coating department.  Places orders for raw materials and assists with inventory management.

    Shift hours are 9:00am - 5:30pm.  Pay based on experience.   

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSBILITIES

    • Following work instruction documents, set up and operate a high-speed mixer. Select batch and weigh materials utilizing the proper equipment.
    • Use computer to run batch tickets, enter job data, adjust inventory, process jobs, log lot numbers, etc. Complete all proper paperwork including batch lots, quality control documents, inventory control documentation, and drum labeling.
    • Check and adjust variables (viscosity, temperature, speed, solids %) for proper grind and performance of the material. Monitor viscosity and grind during operation.
    • Review and forecast raw material need and place orders for raw materials based on the production schedule. Assist in inventory management and track stock levels by keeping it at or below the safety stock.
    • Maintain proper written production, quality, and inventory documentation. Maintain production documentation on business ERP system (QAD).
    • Ensure that the necessary material for each job is available in the department before starting production.
    • Regularly review the schedule and ensure orders are processed on time. Notify supervisor of problems with schedule, inventory, etc.
    • Inform the supervisor about the solid and liquid waste generated to schedule pickup.
    • Provide support to all other machine operators as needed, including feedback on material quality questions and mixing.
    • Strict adherence to safety regulations, security regulations and work rules.
    • Maintain a neat and orderly work area, and other general housekeeping duties.
    • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor, including cross training as needed.

    SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS 

    • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
    • 3-5 years’ experience with setup, operation and troubleshooting industrial machinery which is continually processing materials. Experience with inks, printing, viscosity, HAZMAT (hazardous materials), and weighing or mixing chemicals strongly desired.
    • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook) and manufacturing ERP systems such as QAD.
    • Material Handling experience, including forklifts and hoists.
    • Ability to follow instructions (both written and verbal).
    • Some experience using common hand tools such as Allen wrenches, pipe wrenches, screwdrivers and box knives
    • Work with minimal supervision in manufacturing.
    • Strong basic math (decimals and fractions) and measurement ability (use and read weigh scales) required. Must be able to understand metric system (grams, kilograms) and convert to standard. Read formulas.
    • The physical requirements include constant standing; frequent walking, lift/carry up to 55 lbs., pushing/pulling, reaching, bending and visual acuity; occasional twisting/turning, climbing, overhead work, handling, sitting and squatting/kneeling.
