Liaise with transportation carriers and forwarders to ensure timely pick up and delivery of customer orders.
Collaborate with both hourly and salaried employees, to include working with the sales team, to obtain freight cost quotes for customers.
Ensure efficient management of the warehouse computerized systems and functions.
Retrieve stored information and/or respond to enquiries (for example delivery schedules or shipment tracking).
Communicate with vendors and suppliers and ensure that that there is sufficient packaging inventory to meet the organization's needs by ordering packaging products, managing out-of-stock and over-stocked products.
Monitor warehouse activities to ensure that goods are stored correctly and safely, and warehouse space is used efficiently.
Monitor the effectiveness of Forklift operating procedures, space utilization, and make recommendations for improvements.
Prioritize and assign tasks to ensure that the shipping and receiving team’s resources are used effectively and that work schedules and targets are met in a safe manner.
Establish and support a work environment of continuous improvement that supports the company’s quality and safety policies and requirements.
Support the Operations Manager in creating an 80/20 culture throughout the facility and in developing manufacturing standards, processes, and KPI’s including Lean Manufacturing and 5S practices.
Supervise staff to ensure that all warehouse activities and all equipment are operated in a safe manner.
Train new and existing employees in the organization's operating procedures and standards.
Perform other duties as assigned or directed.
Qualifications
Qualifications
Associate degree with a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience.
Knowledge of international shipping and related documentation highly preferred.
Forklift operations skills highly preferred.
Significant understanding of Shipping/Transportation/Logistics and related documentation, warehouse, invoicing, and receiving.·
General knowledge of production planning and manufacturing systems highly desired.
Experience leading cross-functional team.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
