    Job Description

    CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To Assist the Sourcing Innovation Manager with new product development projects, the candidate will:
    • Create and execute Request for Quotation (RFQ) events to support new product projects
    • Develop a database of supplier quotes, design drawing revisions and supplier communications
    • Analyze Bill of Materials (finished product parts list) costs and cost changes
    • Support new product development engineers and marketing managers with specific requests as needed
    • Research new technologies and suppliers to add to the GTU supply chain and schedule and participate in introductory meetings
    • Track project expenditures against project budget

     

    EXPECTED LEARNINGS:

    • A solid understanding of the new product development process and management techniques and the importance of Sourcing to the NPD process
    • An ability to solicit, analyze and evaluate supplier quotes
    • Project management
    • Collaboration with different departments including engineering, marketing, innovation, purchasing and assembly
    • Understanding of and ability to communicate manufacturing considerations during design
    • Work and learnings will be geared toward the major of the intern

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • College sophomore, junior or rising senior
    • A wide range of majors will be considered including engineering, economics, marketing, supply chain, business or similar
    • A driving interest in new product development and strategic sourcing will be key to succeeding in the role
    • Ability to communicate across disciplines and understand the interests of various stakeholders
    • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
