    Job Description

    Support the ITW Health & Welfare Department in the analysis of multiple data sources and programs interacting internally with Workday (HRIS), Payroll, Finance, Legal and externally with multiple benefit vendors (e.g. Blue Cross/Blue Shield, CVS/Caremark, IBM Watson, Empyrean Benefit Solutions, etc.).  Support and consult HRIS and IT on data management needs.  Provide analysis of health and welfare benefits spending and utilization. Serve as key liaison with ITW Finance, external actuaries and accountants, and internal and external auditors on data integrity, reconciliations, audits and submissions.  Additionally, support compliance efforts keeping abreast of federal tax and benefits laws related to critical and time-sensitive reporting and filing.  Contribute to a wide range of complex projects involving the design, financing, delivery and management of health and welfare benefit programs including medical, wellness, dental, life, disability and leaves.  Support additional Human Resources analytical projects on an ad hoc basis.

    DUTIES:

    • Understand the system flows (data interface from the HR and payroll systems, transmission of information to outside parties)
    • Leverage technology to automate recurring data-related tasks
    • Compile data from multiple sources and varied formats as required for FAS census, audits and health and welfare plan operations and analysis
    • Develop working relationships with vendors and key stakeholders
    • Process confidential data and information per organizational guidelines
    • Provide timely and accurate routine and ad hoc reports in easy to read exhibits for HR leaders
    • Manage Health Plan Data Warehouse (IBM Watson/Truven Advantage Suite) including vendor data oversight, queries, reports and analysis
    • Develop plan financial/operational dashboards as well as ad hoc analysis, implement and execute
    • Coordinate plan information with Financial Accounting, actuaries, and government required reporting
    • Troubleshoot data issues with vendors and internal stakeholders
    • Complete and maintain benefits benchmarking (Mercer, Aon, Kaiser Family Foundation, PWC, Census Bureau, etc.), analyze and present benchmarking data as part of annual assessment and basis for plan design changes
    • Compile/complete quarterly analysis reporting from vendors and self-created
    • Analyze wellness data to present as part of annual recommendation for programs
    • Assist in assessing the impact of new regulations impacting plan design, communication or reporting
    • Maintain and report on ongoing vendor spending history vs. projections
    • Assist in annual internal plan pricing
    • Track and report on claims funding by plan

    Serve as the point of contact for internal and external auditors

  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s degree required in Human Resources, Finance, Analytics, or related discipline.
    • 2-5 years of experience in health and welfare, medical plan, or other employee benefits analysis roles
    • Expertise in Microsoft Excel and Access, excellent computer skills in other Office applications
    • Understanding of US Health & Welfare regulations and compliance
    • Ability to present and summarize data in a logical manner using visualizations
    • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage and document data across multiple platforms
    • Team player with a proven track record of managing projects
    • Ability to research and troubleshoot issues associated with data and benefits administration
    • Problem-solving and analytical thinking
    • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
    • Strong communication skills
    • Experience with a data warehouse (e.g. IBM Watson/Truven Health) a plus
    • Familiarity with employee benefits administration and HRIS systems (e.g. Workday, PeopleSoft)
    • Ability to calendarize necessary tasks to meet annual regulatory, reporting and cyclical (i.e. plan year) project requirements to meet required deadlines
    • Proficiency in SQL database management and coding a plus
