POSITION SUMMARY:

We are seeking a SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT INTERN to join our Ft. Lauderdale based team for the summer of 2021.

The SOFTWARE DEVELOPMENT INTERN for Alpine will evaluate the current user interfaces and designs for Alpine’s new web portal, present design options, and implement new designs to improve the user interface and user experience. The scope of this project will include development of a landing/home page, menu/navigational structure, and/or other user interfaces (as identified) for the Alpine web portal.  The project will apply interactive and visual design principles towards simplifying and improving the user experience of our new portal.

CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Gain an understanding of the Alpine Portal capabilities including the existing features and those that are planned
• Develop prototypes and design options to be considered as a new design including landing/home page, menu/navigational structure, and/or identified user interfaces
• Once approved, implement the new design to demonstrate improvements in the user interface(s) and user experience
• Share key learnings and implementation/approach with the team

 EXPECTED LEARNINGS:

• High-level product capabilities of the Alpine software portfolio
• Existing and planned features of the Alpine web portal
• Design and implementation of interactive and visual design principles in a modern web application

 JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• Rising Junior or Senior pursuing a bachelor’s degree in computer science or Information Technology related field
• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, and other tools used to design and create web-based and mobile-friendly user interfaces
• Proficient in JavaScript and JavaScript frameworks/libraries such as Angular, Vue.js, Node.js, React.js

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential duties and responsibilities of this position, within typical manufacturing plant working conditions.  While performing the duties of this position, the employee is occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, climate variances and moving mechanical equipment typically found in a manufacturing environment.  The noise level in the work environment (office) is usually low, but much higher when exposed to the manufacturing areas.  Certain personal protective equipment is required when in the manufacturing areas.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
