    Job Description

    WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Reports to Assistant Controller
    • Responsible for maintaining accurate financial data in the General Ledger System
    • Ensures month-end and year-end closing by the designated deadline
    • Investigates any discrepancies and resolves them in a timely manner and prepares correcting or reclassification entries as needed
    • Maintains fixed asset system and schedules, records monthly depreciation entries, and ensures all proper backup documentation is maintained
    • Maintains vendors in the Account Payable module
    • Reviews expenses for accurate coding and fiscal compliance1099 issuance and compliance
    • Responsible for fiscal compliance and reporting for restricted funds
    • Researches state, federal and local grants compliance
    • Implements state, federal and local grant compliance procedures
    • Trains stakeholders on restricted grants compliance
    • Prepares year-end accruals in accordance with GAAP
    • Assists with the annual year end accounting audit process, including preparing audit schedules
    • Continually looks for ways to improve processes and makes recommendations to management
    • Provides excellent customer service to all KIPP SoCal Public Schools employees by promptly researching and answering questions and information requests
    • Performs other ad-hoc projects as assigned
    • Manages an accounting team member
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    YOU'LL BE QUALIFIED IF YOU HAVE

    • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in accounting
    • 5+ years of accounting experience
    • CPA preferred
    • Demonstrated ability to learn new software systems
    • Intermediate Excel level required;
    • Intacct and Concur system knowledge is a plus
    • Must be detailed and results-oriented 
    • Experience with charter school accounting is a plus
    • Demonstrated ability and willingness to research and learn
    • Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices, and procedures within the accounting field
    • Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals
    • Works under general supervision with degree of creativity and latitude
    • Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a proven ability to meet and complete multiple deadlines and tasks

    • Salary range for this role is $68,000 to $85,000
