    Job Description

    JOB OVERVIEW Develops and executes strategies and standards related to accounting policy, financial reporting, general ledger maintenance, budgeting, and financial systems and controls. Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and coordinates the preparation of financial statements and filings in compliance with GAAP. Conducts ad hoc analyses of the organization's finances and presents findings to executive leadership for decision making and planning. Develops internal controls and oversees audits of policies and

    procedures meant to preserve the organization's assets.

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support and assist in the strategic planning process.
    • Coordinate and prepare the annual plan, which includes meeting with regional managers and executives to establish goals and targets.
    • Summarize annual plan, including tear sheets, working closely with Corporate FP&A
    • Analyze and compare monthly and quarterly financial results, metrics, and key performance indicators against plan and other internal benchmarks
    • Develop a keen understanding of the business and add value during client negotiations, contract development, and execution.  Assist in bid development
    • Prepare and present periodic performance and financial reports to senior management.
    • Review opportunities to improve margins via cost reductions in labor, field expenses, and SG&A.
    • Spearhead the monthly close process with, after the first year, owning the process for the segment.
    • Help implement proper revenue recognition in the internal statements by improving the process, ensuring adequate systems, etc.
    • Ensure balance sheet accounts for the business’s segment are reconciled
    • Work closely with corporate A/R to enable timely collections
    • Work closing with CFL to ensure timely billing
    • Assist in financial and operational due diligence for business opportunities
    • Lead all integration activities for closed acquisitions
    • Assist corporate controller with all financial statement audits
    • Direct the preparation of special purpose or ad hoc analysis as required.
    • Serve as liaison to region personnel to monitor and analyze business performance.
    • Identify and promote the sharing of best practices across regions.
    • Coordinate with both business unit and corporate IT functions on new financial system development activities (Performance Management Dashboards, Executive Scorecards, Daily Metrics Dashboard, etc.).

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA required; MBA preferred but not required.
    • Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible finance and accounting experience required.
    • Demonstrated experience at the Director level in a finance or accounting capacity.
    • Prior experience leading and developing a staff strongly desired.
    • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills, possess sound judgment with the ability to learn quickly while working in a fast-paced dynamic environment.
    • The ability to effectively use deliberate influence strategies to impact, shape, or redirect the behaviors of others, without formal authority.
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
    • Solid business fluency. Thinks like a general manager and has strong diagnostic skills – the candidate should be able to translate business issues into actionable strategies.
    • Track record for building strong teams by selecting the right people, setting precise expectations, and holding people accountable to very high-performance standards within the finance function. 
    • Achieves far-reaching results through relationship building and effective influencing skills – does not rely on direct authority to achieve results.
    • Gets things done; can juggle multiple issues and make sound decisions in a rapid-fire manner.  Welcomes rigorous debate and is a sound conceptual thinker.
    • Possesses strong convictions and intuitive capabilities with the self-confidence to act on his/her beliefs.  Works with teams to solve business issues that are critical to the corporation.
