    Job Description

    The intern for the ITW Body and Fuel Division will rotate through various work groups within the Operations and Engineering functions of our plastic injection molding facilities. The departments where the intern will gain experience and apply their academic knowledge to contribute to business results include: Project Management, Technical/Engineering, Operations and Tooling.  

    The candidate should be enrolled in an accredited institution and be pursuing an Engineering Degree, preferably in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering. Responsibilities May Include: ·       Complete ITW toolbox training (80/20, Front-to-Back, etc.) ·       Learn and apply safety rules and regulations in the operations environment ·       Analyze failures and identify common trends. Utilize internal laboratory for material                  analysis. ·       Learn and apply root cause analysis principles. Suggest plans for corrective actions. ·       Validate best practices by comparing results to measurable qualities of programs                    currently in production •    Learn Six Sigma techniques and tools to improve business processes. This includes an         introduction to Cpk and Ppk values, creating histograms and control charts. •    Introduction and application to mistake proofing methods. This includes Poke Yoke                 Validation systems with Red Rabbits, sensors and cameras. •    Understand the 5 phases of successful product launch by learning and applying APQP           (Advanced Product Quality Planning) procedures and techniques •    Learn and apply DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) data driven quality strategy to improve processes

    Actively pursuing a degree in Engineering, preferably with a focus in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering •    GPA of 3.0 or better strongly desired •    Effective written and oral communication skills •    Ability to work well in a team •    Excellent computer skills (MS PowerPoint, Excel, Word and windows based software) •    Ability to work in a dynamic and challenging environment
