    Job Description

    The Innovation Engineering Intern will provide coordination and alignment to Innovation and engineering goals. This position will report directly to the Innovation Manager in our Rockford, MI facility.

    ** Critical Skills:**

    • ** Project Management** – ability to utilize the ITW toolbox to plan, map and execute on projects within budget & timing

    • ** Technical** – understanding of Computer Aided Engineering (CAE) and Computer Aided Design (CAD) software

    • ** Other tasks and duties as assigned.**

    ** Primary Responsibilities:**

    • Apply knowledge of process design, fabrication, assembly, tooling, and materials
    • Apply knowledge of CAE and CAD to lead material characterization of key raw materials used within the Innovation team
    • Design (in CAD), prototype, validate, and fabricate a testing fixture that will generate key data to be loaded on a material card to enhance CAE modeling accuracy
    • Provide technical support to the Innovation and Engineering team members on assigned projects.
    • Utilizes problem-solving tools in various situations, including root cause analysis, flowcharts, and fishbone diagrams.
    • Perform other duties as required.

    • Must be pursuing bachelor’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical engineering or related field (with 2024/25 target graduation)
    • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
    • Previous experience working with CAD and AutoCAD and knowledge of CAE
    • Excellent analytical skills and proficient with computer
    • Strong written and verbal communication skills
    • Ability to persuade others to change existing practices
    • Strong attention to detail & ability to manage projects
    • Proven ability to identify, assess and solve problems
