    Job Description

    JOB SUMMARY: 

    The Division Controller will serve as a key business partner to the Vice president/General manager and will manage the finance, accounting, and IT functions of the Division. This role is the financial leader for the business unit and a key member of the division leadership team.  The successful candidate is a great business and financial leader, while also being a strong manager and developer of talent.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    STRATEGIC PLANNING:

    • Contribute to the vision and implementation of strategic long-range plans, capital investments, and special projects.
    • Prepare and report financial outlooks every month with collaboration from the other business leaders.
    • Build cross-department credibility, confidence, and collaboration with other functional areas.

    FINANCIAL REPORTING AND CONTROL:

    • Learn and apply the ITW business model to eliminate complexity and improve the profitability of the division.
    • Prepare and review all financial statements and outlooks in conjunction with the division VP/GM and leadership team.
    • Ensure accurate and timely reporting of business financial information in compliance with ITW policies and GAAP.
    • Coordinate monthly close to ensure timely preparation and issuance of financial statements and analysis.
    • Manage and control the financial activities, transactions and resources (people and process) of the Division.
    • Maintain a strong internal control environment.

    OPERATING ANALYSIS AND PLANNING:

    • Be a strategic business partner to the VP/GM and leadership team, acting as a business advisor with an influencer mindset.
    • Partner with sales and marketing to develop and execute profitable growth strategies.
    • Partner with operations to drive manufacturing efficiencies.
    • Review and approve capital spending projects’.  
    • Provide measurable and accurate financial targets to evaluate the financial performance of the business.

    CAPITAL MANAGEMENT AND GROWTH INVESTMENT ANALYSIS:

    • Responsible for review of economic analysis of customer deals and promotions and advertising spend effectiveness.
    • Evaluate projects that support additional investment or enhance the current development of assets and resources with the goal of improving the profitability of the organization.

    PEOPLE LEADERSHIP & TALENT DEVELOPMENT:

    • Develop and lead a proficient diverse Finance and IT teams by implementing an organizational structure focused on profitable growth, improving customer satisfaction and simplifying business processes.
    • Identify, lead and develop talent in order to maximize individual, team and organizational effectiveness in meeting organizational goals.
    • Act with Integrity and candor in all areas of influence.

    IT STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP AND GROWTH:  

    • Develop, maintain, and communicate Information Technology Strategy and projects, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.
    • Determines long range divisional IT needs and develops overall strategy to support growth.
    • Manages a diverse and professional team of IT staff and Identifies, leads and mentors talent to build a strong and diverse IT talent/succession pipeline.

    EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • BS in Accounting or Business, MBA and/or CPA preferred
    • 15+ years experience with 5 to 7 years in finance/ accounting leadership role across multiple financial functions including:
      • Accounting:  AR, AP, GL, financial processes, internal controls
      • FP&A
    • Experience with public and multinational companies.
    • Substantial and successful experience in finance and accounting in CPG and manufacturing company environment.

    QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

    • Ability to exercise independent and sound judgment and solve practical business problems in a prompt manner and often under tight deadlines.
    • Excellent leadership skills
    • High emotional intelligence and cultural awareness
    • Commercially aware, able to tell a business story with numbers
    • Advanced MS Office skills, particularly Excel
    • Advanced experience using various accounting systems, preferably JD Edwards.
