    Job Description

    SUMMARY:

    This internship will give you the opportunity to plans and designs manufacturing processes in a commercial plant. Coordinates the activities in developing manufacturing methodology relative to operation methods, process, work measurement, tooling, material routing, preparation of estimates, and other technical phases involved.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

    • You may aid by requesting engineering changes, work with the Engineering Department to release and implement changes
    • You may lead Kaizen blitz projects - Participate in Teams to integrate technical solutions across multiple disciplines
    • You could lead Lean Manufacturing projects including In-Lining, MRD, PLS, and 80/20 evaluations
    • Give assistance in writing, submiting, and implementing capital requests
    • You will create, modify, and maintain production floor layouts (AutoCAD/DraftSight)
    • You will help develop solid models and mechanical assemblies; you’ll need to understand the parameters of various fabrication machines, which include but are not limited to CNC routers, CNC laser cutters, FDM 3D printers, wire feed welders, and other contemporary fabrication machines (Entry level SolidWorks knowledge is a must)
    • You may assists in resolving technical problems of significant impact to performance, cost, or schedule
    • You will lend a hand in coordinating and implementing new engineering principles, theories, advanced technologies, and concepts
    • You will validate and ensure production readiness of solutions to complex problems. Implements lean principles and technologies
    • You will apply Industrial Engineering concepts, techniques, analysis, and decision tools under general supervision to promote and assist in implementing changes in manufacturing, engineering, and service operations
    • You may assists in developing models, databases, and spreadsheets to analyze data (e.g., hours per unit, operations research, engineering economics), and provides summary analysis and metrics for consultation to customers (e.g., management, departments, suppliers)
    • Assist in research, design, development, improvement and implementation of processes to enhance schedule performance, lower cost, and improve quality, through the application of Lean and other Industrial Engineering concepts for large scale systems integration and asset utilization
    • Under general supervision, you may be able to manage, define, negotiate, or controls the scope, cost, and timing of projects, and performs risk analysis using project management tools (e.g., engineering changes, creation/moves of production lines, safety projects)
    • You will provides support to project completion. Utilizes engineering methods to support the development of optimal process designs and efficient utilization of resources (e.g., facilities, personnel, materials, equipment) in the creation and validation of products
    • Under general direction, you may analyze and design value stream, including capability, capacity (e.g., make/buy, supplier selection, risk analysis, supplier performance), throughput, work flow and logistics (e.g., critical path, lead-time, transportation, factory layout)
    • If you are an expert in Microsoft Office applications and/or have Arduino knowledge that will be a huge plus.
    • Industrial engineering with some mechanical engineering ideal
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well the ability to utilize MS Teams to participate in meetings and create minutes
    • Team-player with aptitude to learn the ITW culture and work within a fast-pace environment
    • Preferred candidates will reside and/or attend college or university in the DFW area.

    EDUCATION

    • Sophomore, Junior or Senior with major in Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering.
    • Progress toward a bachelor’s or advanced degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering or related field

    • Work in climate controlled office environment
    • Work occasionally in climate controlled plant, specifically during physical inventory count
