ITW Hartness is looking for a Summer 2021 Mechanical Engineering Intern. As a Mechanical Engineering Intern you will perform a variety of functions as it relates to the Mechanical Engineering Organization. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an office environment and performing hands on work. ITW Hartness is proud to offer a robust Summer Internship program. This position will be based at our headquarters in Greenville, South Carolina. WHAT YOU WILL DO: 

·         Machine design & detailing

·         Hands-on machine experience and troubleshooting

·         Gain valuable business and operating experience

TYPICAL PROJECTS INCLUDE:

·         Obtaining mechanical engineering design and hands-on experience creating world-class secondary packaging equipment by understanding and assisting with the execution of a customer project or projects from initial design through construction and on-site testing

·         Gaining a greater understanding of mechanical engineering and machine-design challenges by partnering with senior engineering staff and operations personnel to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions

·         Becoming familiar with corporate process and product improvement skills and use those tools to innovate, reduce costs, optimize processes, and develop solutions for our customers

Experience with the following software applications:  

·         Solidworks

·         Microsoft Office Suite

Qualifications

 MINIMUM POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

·         Actively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university

·         Mechanical skills: knowledge of mechanical and physical

·         Use of tools: ability to use hand and power tools

·         Innovation: ability to work alone and with others to develop new concepts and solve problems

·         Troubleshooting: have a methodical and logical mindset through process. Ability to perform root cause analysis.

·         Work ethic: willingness to put forth the effort required to get the job done, while upholding high ethical standards. Work well with others in a team environment.
