    Job Description

    ITW Hartness is looking for a Summer 2022 Research & Development (R&D) Engineer Intern. As an R&D Intern you will perform a variety of product development-related functions as it relates to the ITW Hartness Organization. The successful candidate must be comfortable working in an office environment and performing hands on work. ITW Hartness is proud to offer a robust Summer Internship program. While an intern, here you will have the opportunity to visit customer sites to see our product in action, while also networking with other departments and company leadership.     TYPICAL PROJECTS INCLUDE:

    • Obtaining mechanical engineering design and hands-on experience creating world-class secondary packaging equipment by understanding and assisting with the execution of a customer or R&D project
    • Optimizing internal test fixtures and designing tools or structures to aid in the manufacturing process
    • Gaining a greater understanding of mechanical engineering and machine-design challenges by partnering with senior engineering staff and operations personnel to troubleshoot problems, identify solutions, and implement corrective actions
    • Becoming familiar with business process and product improvement skills and use those tools to innovate, reduce costs, optimize processes, and develop solutions for our customers
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    •  Actively pursuing a Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited university
    • Mechanical skills: knowledge of mechanical and physical
    • Exposure to AutoCad and Solidworks
    • Innovation: Ability to work alone and with others to develop new concepts and solve problems
    • Troubleshooting: have a methodical and logical mindset through process. Ability to perform root cause analysis.
    • Work ethic: willingness to put forth the effort required to get the job done, while upholding high ethical standards. Work well with others in a team environment.
