Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY:

Provide mechanical design and product configuration expertise for the release of new product designs and the improvement of legacy product designs. This position is a member of the manufacturing engineering team that supports all engineered products through the complete product life cycle and provides product support to the Shakeproof Industrial manufacturing facilities in Watertown, WI.; Milwaukee, WI.; and Broadview, IL. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support the design and documentation of new fastening solutions using Solidworks and AutoCad. 
• Support the release of new customer products.
• Support business unit continuous improvement initiatives, particularly as related to product cost and quality.
• Improve and maintain legacy product designs with input from the engineering team and other cross functional departments within the organization.  
• Initiate and complete documentation needed for engineering change notices for new and legacy 
• Create and maintain structured bills of material in the Shakeproof Industrial ERP system.
• Perform analysis activities in the business quoting process, Price, and Quote tool to support new customer special orders. 
• Model and design cold-headed and cold-formed metal components. 
• Design manufacturing fixtures with input from operations and manufacturing engineering.

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Associates degree in Design Drafting or Engineering Technology required.
• 2+ years of relevant designer experience required.
• 2D CAD (AutoCad) & 3D CAD (Solidworks preferred) part and assembly modeling, drawing generation and CAD database experience required.
• Bill of material development and configuration management experience required. 
• Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and applications required.
• Strong interpersonal and communications skills, both verbal and written required.
• Experience in industrial manufacturing highly preferred.
• Knowledge and experience in the use of ANSI Y14 drawing standards and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) highly preferred.
