GRAPHIC DESIGNER / ILLUSTRATOR
We are looking for a Graphic Designer / Illustrator to help us create exciting new designs for museums and other public spaces. The right candidate will have a team-oriented attitude, the ability to achieve consistently compelling designs, and enthusiasm for the job. The candidate will have 3+ years of industry experience in graphic design and illustration. We seek a motivated individual who is not afraid to learn new things and can help us design interactive experiences. Our clients for these projects are world-famous museums, zoos, aquariums, and Fortune 500 companies. This in-person position is at Ideum's studios in scenic Corrales, New Mexico (near Albuquerque and an hour from Santa Fe).
The Graphic Design / Illustrator will report to the Experience Design Manager and give updates to the Executive Producer of Design showing the progress of their work. However supported by Ideum leadership, they have the ability to work autonomously and demonstrate a well-versed knowledge of layout, color, composition, and typography. There will be opportunities to learn more about UI/UX, museum exhibit design, interactive and immersive environments, and the other types of dynamic work that Ideum is involved in. The right candidate is self-motivated, engaged with their teams, and dependable under tight deadlines.
CORE REQUIREMENTS AND DUTIES:
3 + years of demonstrated experience in graphic design and illustration (portfolio, please)
Strong knowledge of layout, color, composition, and typography
Fluent in the Adobe Suite and other graphic design and illustration programs
Understands how to prepare files for print
Can work with other designers and team members to create compelling designs
Presents creative concepts to internal teams and clients
Upholds Ideum’s standards of design through quality assurance of all creative deliverables from hardware, structural, and application design
Contributes to the culture and development of Ideum
Assists Software Developers with spec and QA designs to ensure designs support a facile path to production in software development
Works collaboratively with Producers, Exhibit Design, VFX, Software Development, Hardware Workshop, Fabrication, and AV Engineering teams
Can manage multiple project deliverables under tight deadlines
Demonstrated organizational skills
Dependability and commitment to results
Engagement in team communications
Experience with content development, and/or science or history-related topics, a plus
Experience with motion graphics and illustration, a plus

Well-versed proficiency with relevant design software
Ability and desire to learn and explore new types of software and technology
Ability to work with printers and understand print production
Advanced skill set in environmental graphic design
Increasing autonomous ability to generate and refine ideas into thoughtful, provocative concepts and articulate ideas both verbally and visually
Understanding of overall application design, including usability, industry standards, architecture, and navigation
Demonstrates inspiration and passion for Visual Design
Team leadership and exceptional communications

BENEFITS AND INCENTIVES
Compensation between $48,000 to $60,000 depending on experience
