    Overview The faculty and staff of the Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) invite you to join them in shaping and implementing the next generation of innovative and engaging learning experiences. IMSA is actively seeking applications for the part-time position of Pre-Enrollment Programs Associate in the Office of Enrollment Management Services. This is a 12 month, part-time position. Key responsibilities include assisting in the administration of the PROMISE Programs including the PEEPs program, SEAMS, EIP, and LS2S as well as the EXCEL bridging program. The position reports to the Director of Pre-enrollment Programs. IMSA is committed to excellence and equity including active recruitment of students from all areas of Illinois. IMSA's PROMISE programs address the challenges of culturally, linguistically and economically diverse (CLED) students through year-round academic enrichment programming at low or no cost. The program particularly targets Black and Latinx students, students from rural Illinois counties, and students from low-income families. Most programs are held on IMSA's campus in Aurora, Illinois with transportation provided from Chicago, PROMISE programs provide students the opportunity to work with IMSA faculty, staff, and student tutors. PROMISE is a STEM pipeline program aimed at gifted students in 7th through 9th grade. Its many offerings include Saturday enrichment programs and a residential summer program to spark curiosity and passion for STEM education. IMSA students who have previously participated in PROMISE often serve as mentors, tutors, and role models for students currently in the program. EXCEL is a three-week pre-enrollment program that focuses on skill development and problem solving in mathematics, science, and English, as well as residential living. The EXCEL program will be held on IMSA's campus for three weeks in July for select incoming sophomore students to IMSA. The internationally recognized Illinois Mathematics and Science Academy (IMSA) develops creative, ethical leaders in science, technology, engineering and mathematics. As a teaching and learning laboratory created by the State of Illinois, IMSA enrolls academically talented Illinois students (grades 10-12) in its advanced, residential college preparatory program. It also serves thousands of educators and students in Illinois and beyond through innovative instructional programs that foster imagination and inquiry. Act as the on-campus liaison for all weekend PROMISE programs and summer PROMISE and EXCEL programs Monitor student transportation for weekend programs Supervise/assist with classroom setup and clean up Assist in the hiring and supervision of IMSA student tutors/mentors Provide PROMISE program support including but not limited to: Communication with participant families Mail materials for online participants Monitor tutor Service Learning hours Serve as evening program study facilitator Represent the Enrollment Management Services on designated committees Assist with divisional and campus-wide events such as Preview Day, Convocation and Graduation Actively further the Academy's Equity and Excellence policy by supporting culturally, linguistically, economically diverse students Maintain communication with alumni tutors and assist with development of timesheets/invoices Other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS The required skills and experience for this position include, but are not necessarily limited to: Bachelor's degree required 1-2 years experience in educational setting working with student programs Effective oral and written communication skills Effective organization skills Comfortable using technology to communicate and increase efficiency including but not limited to Microsoft Office Suite and Google Business Suite Strong service orientation and ability to relate effectively with students as well as individuals and groups at all levels of the organization Demonstrated ability to be productive, deliver high quality work, take initiative, use good judgement, and problem solve An appreciation and understanding of working with diverse populations Ability and willingness to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends Valid driver's license PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Bi-lingual, Spanish Bachelor's degree in STEM field Experience working with diverse student groups WORKING CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Work is performed in an office setting with minimal exposure to health or safety hazards. This role requires substantial candidate mobility, written and verbal communication, hearing and visual capabilities. COMPENSATION Salary for this 12 month, part-time position is no less than $23,500 and is commensurate with required formal education and experience. IMSA offers a comprehensive benefits package including health (medical, vision, dental, and prescription) and retirement benefits.
