We are a growing San Antonio immigration law firm with practices in criminal and family law as well. We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Paralegal to join our team. The ideal candidate will be able to effectively manage a combination of family based and removal immigration cases (non-detained and detained).
Key Responsibilities:
Client Relations & Communication
Schedule consultations and follow up with existing clients
Maintain regular communication with existing clients regarding case status and developments
Respond to client inquiries via phone, email, and in-person meetings with the dignity and respect they deserve
Case Management & Administration
Utilize case management software (Clio) to track cases
Create and maintain organized client files
Input and update client information, case notes, and documentation related their case
Prepare USCIS applications and packets, such as I-130’s, I-485’s, I-90’s, N-400’s, I-360’s, U-Visa’s & VAWA with focus on accuracy and attention to detail
Prepare files for immigration court proceedings and applications for relief such as 42B’s and I-589’s
Prepare and put together IH evidence packets for removal proceedings cases
Provide translation services for existing clients
Ability to draft detailed and persuasive client sworn declarations with minimal supervision
Submitting and reviewing Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests
Calendar & Scheduling Management
Maintain attorney calendars for court appearances such as Master Hearing and Individual Hearings
Coordinate with the immigration court and opposing counsel
Track and monitor critical case deadlines, statute of limitations, Request for Evidence (RFE’s) etc
Send hearing reminders to existing clients and enter deadlines
Administrative Support
Support attorneys in preparing for hearings, such as, preparing laptops, preparing client files, and other materials for the hearing
Organize and scanning supporting documents to ensure easy access and retrieval
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Paralegal certificate or associate degree preferred
Bilingual (English/Spanish) capabilities
Minimum 3 years of experience, preferably with removal proceedings knowledge
Proficiency with legal case management software (experience with Clio or similar platforms preferred)
Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams etc)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to handle sensitive matters
Strong organizational skills and abilities to multitask
Preferred Qualifications:
Prior experience in detainee removal cases
