    JOB DESCRIPTION:

    This individual would be trained in Williamston and stationed in Williamston but asked to travel to our facility in Rochester Hills, MI, and our facility in Chicago, IL from time to time. 10% travel.

    The Application Engineer is responsible for completing all CNC programming operations in accordance with company standards to meet customer requirements.

    The Application Engineer is responsible for creating, modifying, and maintaining of Midway product drawings and electronic files, based on company standards.

    JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    **- **Requires a high school diploma or equivalent.

    **- **Requires college level training or coursework in CNC programming.

    **- **Requires a minimum of 3 years of experience operating CNC machining centers. 5-Axis milling experience is a plus.

    **- **Requires experience working with CAD/CAM software, specifically Mastercam, Solidworks, AutoCAD and Vericut.

    **- **Requires understanding of G & M codes.

    **- **Prefer completion of machining related coursework and the attainment of a journeyman’s certificate.

    **- **Prefer prior work experience in a manufacturing setting that was compliant to ISO 9001 or equivalent quality system.

    **- **Requires knowledge of blueprint terminology and ability to interpret manufacturing

    requirements from CAD drawings or prints. Basic knowledge of GD&T is preferred.

    **- **Requires ability to perform calculations involving fractions, decimals, and conversions and to apply concepts of algebra, geometry, and trigonometry.

    • Must be able to complete required paperwork properly and legibly.

    **- **Must be detail-oriented and committed to completing work to the highest degree of quality.

    **- **Must possess a high sense of urgency in terms of completing routine and assigned tasks on time.

    **- **Must be able to communicate effectively with co-workers and supervisors.

    **- **Must be a team-oriented individual who is willing to accept the responsibility to complete quality work for the benefit of the organization.

    WORKING CONDITIONS:

    • Working conditions may include high noise levels, work near moving mechanical parts, and exposure to hazardous materials.

     

    **- **This position requires sitting for the majority of the workday in an office setting.

    **- **This position requires extensive computer use.

    **- **This position requires lifting up to 25 pounds.

    ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The principle responsibilities of the Application Engineer include but are not limited to the following:

    **- **Inspect roll drawings and verify that dimensions match the dimensions on the order form, confirming the validity of dimensional information relative to cutback, PD, roll repeat length, minimum CR, etc. Verify that supplied information (including print or CAD geometry) is

    sufficient to create the final product.

    **- **Accurately and efficiently create geometry for machining and generate tool paths. Geometry should be based on a CAD file and modified for effectiveness.

    **- **Review set-up, geometry and tool paths to prevent errors.

    **- **Check and sign off on the programs of other CNC Programmers prior to releasing them for production.

    • Create a tool list (set-up sheets) for the CNC operators, and provide specific instructions when necessary.

     

    **- **Identify and correct program problems, including making improvements to reduce milling time or complexity.

    **- **Create production drawings for projects according to internal and external customer-supplied drawings, files, or sketches.

    **- **Create die lines for customer approval from customer drawings or CAD files, sample parts, internal order forms or customer dies.

    • Support the Business Development and Account Management departments by answering questions relative to manufacturing feasibility and timing.

    Remain current with CNC manufacturing industry trends, processes, tools and techniques in order to suggest and apply improvements to Midway’s processes.

    • Participate in R&D projects to improve Midway’s machining processes, offering creative solutions that reduce manufacturing costs.

    Submit purchasing requests for special tooling needs.

    SALARY INFO:

    $25 - $30 / HR
