Job Description
Job Summary:
Plan, lead, organize and control the day-to-day operations of all warehouse shipping and/or receiving activities within a certain shift.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise a staff of approximately 15-40 people
- Plan and schedule tasks for receiving, storage and/or shipping of all goods
- Review time cards for reporting staff.
- Train, coach and provide recognition to employees to achieve continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and safety guidelines by all direct reports
- Monitor employee performance and provide ongoing performance feedback. Apply consistent disciplinary measures as needed, or as identified within the company policy handbook. Complete performance appraisals on hourly employees
- Ensure daily, weekly, and monthly goals are met or exceeded
- Analyze and research problems and provide resolutions
- Deliver effective team meetings
- Manage labor costs by maximizing shift productivity and maintaining appropriate staffing levels for the volume of business
- Complete other duties as assigned
Job Specifications (Includes Education/Certifications/Licenses, etc.)
- Consistent compliance with all company policies and procedures
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED)
- Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a lead person/floor supervisor within a distribution/warehouse environment
- Good working knowledge of MS Word and Excel
- Prior use of inventory management systems (WMS) warehouse management system
- May be required to hold a certificate for safe driving and operating of material handling equipment, such as forklifts and cherry pickers
- Demonstrated ability to interact and offer guidance to others
- Strong team building and mentoring skills
- Capable of handling multiple tasks at once
- Demonstrated ability to adjust to sudden changes in customer demands or operational goals
- Effective people skills

- Customer-service oriented
- Ability to read, comprehend and carry out simple instructions from oral instructions or written correspondence
Physical Demands:
- Workday for phone use, computer work, and face-to-face meetings.
- Regular standing and walking throughout workday while on the production floor.
- Climb stairs to and from office area.
