    Impact Recruiting Solutions is currently seeking a Financial Controller to fill an opening with a Quality Improvement Consulting Company located in Landover, Maryland

    Requirements of the Financial Controller:

    • Must have a minimum BS/BA degree in Accounting, Business or Finance. CPA is preferred.
    • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience as a Controller or Sr. Accountant and a thorough knowledge of accounting practices and procedures.
    • Must have Government contracting experience
    • Experience Concur (SAP) expense management is highly desirable.
    • Proficiency in QuickBooks is highly desirable.
    • Experience with ADP payroll is highly desirable.
    • Must be proficient in MS Office with strong Excel skills
    • Must possess good oral and written communication skills
    • Demonstrated a history of independent decision-making skills.
    • Must have the ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment and interface with various levels of staff and work both independently and within a team

    Responsibilities of the Financial Controller:

    The Controller is a key member of the company’s management team responsible for organizing, directing and performing the accounting and financial operations of the company.

    The Controller is responsible for the company's financial plans and policies, its accounting practices, the internal control structure, development and monitoring of the system of internal controls, assisting with the conduct of its relationships with lending institutions and the financial community, the maintenance of its
    fiscal records, and the preparation of financial reports.

    The controller is responsible for producing contract reports, assessing contract financial performance and working with project managers to monitor project budgets.

    The position requires supervision over accounting/financial functions and accounting staff resources of the company as follows:

    • Manage/perform the payroll process to ensure accurate and timely completion of payroll, maintenance of payroll and benefits enrollment records, and timely payment of payroll taxes.
    • Manage/perform the Accounts Payable function to ensure timely and accurate payment of vendors, subcontractors and consultants.
    • Manage/perform the billing process to ensure accurate and timely billing of customers and ensure timely payment by customers.
    • Manage Accounts Receivables to ensure accurate and timely payments by customers and perform/manage collection calls and communications when needed.
    • Develop, analyze, and interpret all financial and accounting information in order to evaluate operating results in terms of profitability, performance against budget, cash flow projections and other matters bearing on the fiscal soundness and operating effectiveness of the organization.
    • Manage the company’s dealings with major vendors, including employee benefits and payroll vendors by negotiating agreements and terms with the vendors.
    • Hire, mentor, supervise, and evaluate the performance of personnel in the Accounting Department. This includes recommending training and development to keep the staff at the highest level of skill necessary to meet company needs and objectives.
    • Maintain the company's system of accounts and keep books and records on all company transactions and assets.
    • Coordinate and direct the preparation of the budget and financial forecasts, develop and maintain other planning and control procedures and analyze and report variances.
    • With the assistance of the company’s outside accounting firm ensure adequate tax planning and compliance with all federal, state, and local corporate, payroll, and other applicable taxes.
    • Evaluate and recommend modifications to the company’s insurance coverage as necessary.
    • Ensure maintenance of effective internal controls to assure safeguarding of assets and reliability of financial statements.
    • Ensure compliance with all financial and contract reporting requirements for funding, licensing, or regulatory agencies.
    • Ensure complete and up-to-date operating procedures for all accounting and financial controls.
    • Responsible for preparation of all documentation necessary to successfully complete the outside reporting requirements of the company (i.e., financial statement audits).
    • Complete month, quarter, and year end close of the company's financial statements including analytical commentary and prepare for/coordinate the annual audit performed by outside CPAs or government agencies.
    • Maintain Financial/Cash flow forecasting – prepare a weekly detailed cash forecast as well as a rolling six month forecast.
    • Report financial information to senior management.
    • Maintain Company bank accounts
